Don't panic: the newsletter is here!

I know, you were all worried when the APBA newsletter wasn't in your inbox prior to 2 pm. I was worried, too. And then I remembered that I'm the one who writes it...and I figured I should get on that.

So, this week we are pleased to announce new Baseball XC individual card sets (as opposed to sheet sets) and the beginning of the 2014 Football season roll-out.

But before we get down to business, I want everyone to first enjoy the jersey Double-A team Altoona Curve will wear for their Star Wars themed game in May:

I really do love it when the jokes write themselves. And now, on to the newsletter:
XCs on Cards
Because Who Has Time for Perforated Sheets?

Fun fact: "perforated" has fewer e's than you might be expecting. Then again, it might not. It might just have fewer e's than I was expecting. But I digress.

The 2004 and 2006 Season XC sets are now each on individual cards, and available from the online store for $33. That means every XC season set from 2004 onward (plus 1999) comes on individual cards instead of perforated sheets.

Trust me, as excited as you might be, we're probably ground-roll-doubly so (that was a stretch, Graham) because now we don't have to print them each time. So, get on over to the store and get your XC card sets! (Go on: the rest of the newsletter will wait for you to get back.)
2014 Football
Basic Football Game Now with 2014 Cards

The APBA Basic Football Game is available once again, now with four 2014 teams: New England, Seattle, Ohio State and Oregon. For the game set, every player listed on the roster (which will be posted to the store later this week) will be carded.

We've run Lynch from the red zone a few times now, and it's worked about half the time. Think you can pull it off?

2013/2014 Super Bowl and National Championship Game Sets

But, wait. You don't need the full game box and all the bells and whistles. And you really only want the Super Bowl teams, or maybe you only want the National Championship Game teams. Well, we have an option for you. You can now order the 2013 and 2014 Super Bowl and National Championship Game sets (with all players carded). These sets, which were previously and currently included in the game respectively come with the following teams:

2013 Super Bowl set - Seattle and Denver
2013 National Championship Game set - Florida State and Auburn
2014 Super Bowl set - New England and Seattle
2014 National Championship Game set - Ohio State and Oregon

Each of these two-team sets is available for $10.
2013-14 EPL Correction
Because Jake Livermore Deserves a Card

So, somehow Jake Livermore (Hull City) was left out of the 2013-14 EPL set. I have never been so ashamed in my life (or, at least, not since I was last caught making mistake...). For those of you looking for his card, you can download it from our website. We will also be printing a set of Jake Livermore 2013-14 EPL cards and will send you your missing card if you let us know you want one.

I sincerely hope that you will all someday be able to forgive me for this error. And if Jake Livermore is reading this... I'm pert dern impressed with this newsletter's popularity!

And now for the best (funniest) responses to the estimation question:

  • "1 and it was a perfect game A's over Phillies. I swear on this." -- if we had that kind of game, we'd stop while we were ahead, too!
  • "300 I like playing it just to hear Ernie" -- couldn't agree more!
  • "18378" -- that's impressively specific
  • "I'm stuck in the past." -- this was on a 0-10 answer... we disagree that the board game is 'the past' for the record!
  • "I wish my memory was that good." -- don't we all? Regarding our own memories, not yours... >_>
  • "Love the polls!" -- thanks! We do too!
  • "Icecube chance in he[double hockey stick] of that happening" -- sports-themed censoring (mostly because it let me make a sports pun...)!
  • "No, I've lost count of the number of computers I have used to play Baseball for Windows." -- that's actually kind of really cool
  • "I don't count em, I just play em and enjoy" -- now that's a fantastic attitude!
  • "it'll climb quickly once I retire! :-)" -- we appreciate that!
  • "Maybe my ex wife can tell you" -- I'm not touching that one...
For this week, we're going to ask How many APBA Baseball for Windows games do you play on average in a year? (Starting next week, we're going to change up the types of questions we ask a bit... and work our way to asking about some other sports!) Looking forward to your responses!
