Instructor Spotlight
| Dr. James LaPlant |
September 1996 brought Professor James LaPlant to Valdosta from the University of Oklahoma where he earned his B.A., M.A., and Ph.D. in Political Science. Currently, he is the Interim Dean of the Graduate School and Assistant VP for Research at VSU.
Dr. LaPlant says he enjoys travelling internationally, especially the opportunity to take VSU students abroad and "enjoys playing golf, although I do so badly." Each Sunday of the NFL season he's a self-described "fanatic of the Green Bay Packers."
Over the years, Learning in Retirement participants have benefitted from his vast expertise and enjoyed participating in his "Views of the News" class which has become a staple in our curriculum.
Come see what it's all about! 6 Fridays - October 3 - Nov 7 10 am - 12 pm.

Rituals of Creativity
We are always being challenged to "get creative." In our personal lives that directive comes early and often as we deal with families, budgets, careers, and the like. So just how do we get innovative, artistic, inspired, and resourceful?
Starting October 20, we are proud to offer again Rituals of Creativity, an online course designed to help you learn to recognize and express your creative talents.
The instructors, Roberta Veatch and Vicki Gaia, are lifelong working artists with a passion for teaching and helping others find their creative passions. They will share insights via videos and open up the course for engagement and discussion.
Discover how to use ritual to open up a place and a space for letting your creativity flow.
See for yourself a sampling of the diverse range of creative rituals used by some entrepreneurs, researchers, and other highly creative people.
Certificate and Leadership Programs...
Put your creative energy to good use by taking advantage of our on-site Management/Leadership skill- builders classes which begin as early as September 30 with Introduction to Leadership.
