Was it fun or what? Year End a Success!

It was a wonderful evening. Yes, there was food and drink, but the evening's awards were the highlight, with everyone there having something to celebrate.
We'll post the photos on our Website soon but one says it all and it's here.
Kris Corbridge and Deana Frandsen
The Bonnie Stone Award for the most improved golfer during the past 12 months went to Deana Frandsen. For those that don't know, Deana was once a 12 handicapper player, playing since she was a child. Then she had 5 strokes.
She has worked SO hard to regain her game and this year proved that she could do it.

Holiday Potluck, White Elephant & LCR!!!

What better way to go into the holiday season?
On Sunday, December 14 from 1 to 5 pm, Cindy Merrall has so kindly volunteered her home for our Holiday Affair. We will playing the LCR game. For those of you that do not know what LCR is, it is a dice game. (Brief description: LCR, or Left Center Right is a very simple dice game for three or more players. It is entirely a game of chance. You start with 3 dollar bills and if you get an L you give the person on left a dollar, etc until all dollars are in the middle. Last one with dollars wins the pot. Lots of fun, and no thinking.)
What to bring:
- Wrapped holiday decoration under $20 for the White Elephant exchange
- Potluck dish
If your last name starts with this letter you bring the following item.
- A-F - Appetizer
- G-M - Entree
- N-S - Salads
- T-Z - Dessert
3) Most importantly, dollar bills for LCR game.
Water, tea and soda will be provided. If you'd like something else to drink, please bring your beverage of choice. Please RSVP here, so we can get a headcount. |
| The Last Play Day of the Year...The Turkey Shoot! |
The weather Gods were with us this past Saturday for our last event of the season. Not a drop of rain fell on the 35 golfers who tackled Turkey Creek and the game of Cha-Cha-Cha.
There were nice teams of four. You took one person's best net ball on the par 5s, two on the par 4s and three on the par 3s. One team had three people so we used a blind draw, and Sharon Blume was the lucky winner, literally as she was on the 2nd and 3rd place teams.
First place went to the team of Karen Biscaha, Maryellen Haddock, Betty Lou Beyer, and Jeri Paik with a score of 109. They each received a round of golf at Turkey Creek donated by the course. Second place went to the team of Denise Arend, Kristin Montgomery, Cindy Merrall, and the blind draw of Sharon Blume with a score of 111. Third place went to the team of Sharon Blume, Karen Zamarripa, Patricia Ickes, and Fran Brolan who won in a card-off with a score of 116.
There was also closest to the pin contest on all the par 3s for a $5 buy in. First place won $25, and second place won $15. The winners were as follows:
Hole # 3: Denise Gualco = 6' Laurie Hochmuth = 17' Hole # 8: Pam Katros = 12' 4" Denise Gualco = 17' 5" Hole #11: Maryellen Haddock = Hole in one!!!! The celebration was heard all over the course!! Karen Biscaha = 3' 10" Hole # 14: Shelley Van Drimmelen = 3' 3" Tillie Melton = 11' 8" The gals presented me (Pam) a gift certificate from Turkey Creek for $200. I was totally surprised and appreciate this thoughtful gift. It's sad this is the end of our events, but looking forward to next year. You so deserve our appreciation, Pam!!!! |

It's that time of year again. If you are a member of NCGA, you need to renew between now and January 2015. If you are a member of PWGA, you need to renew by January 2015. If you are a former member of NCGA, you need to rejoin. If you are a former member of PWGA, you need to rejoin. If you've never been a member of NCGA or PWGA, you need to look into it.
