MACo, Counties Mourn Loss of Marvin F. Wilson

Marvin F. Wilson, former Prince George's County Council Member and 2001 MACo President, died earlier this week. Mr. Wilson's many friends and admirers across the local government community mourn his loss, and recall his vision and long commitment to public service.

Mr. Wilson served on the County Council from 1994 to 2002, following many years as a Council Member and Mayor of Glenarden.

STANDARD SOLAR: LOCAL GOVERNMENT SOLAR PROJECT PROVIDES EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITY

The town of Poolesville, Maryland (US) recently completed a solar installation on a wastewater treatment plant that was developed through a public-private partnership between Poolesville, Standard Solar, Inc. (MACo Silver Corporate Partner) and energy provider, UGI Corporation.

The installation is also providing educational opportunities for local students studying environmental science. Using a Draker monitoring system, students are able to see the solar energy generation on the town's website. The project will also include learning tools tied into Poolesville High School's environmental science magnet program. (Click Here to Read More)
