 Thanksgiving week
Join us for a new look at Squanto on Wednesday
.
Good Thanksgiving week to you,
Well, hopefully you all survived your first winter snow storm-- a full month or so before the official start of winter. Be glad you're not living in the Buffalo New York area where my son and daughter- in-law live. They are digging out of an 8 foot wall of snowpack.
-----
But here's something to think about. Even in an area with far less snowfall, it is still possible to find yourself buried, if not in snowpack, then in the cares of this life. All around us  are disappointment, despair, and difficulty. Is there anything (anyone) who can help us?
-----
Truthfully folks, that's why our study of the book of Nehemiah is so timely. As Nehemiah struggled to find his own "answers" to the national dilemma, he was awakened to the burden of a lost people- believers lost in a see of despair and discouragement who needed a supernatural response.  And that fact now brings us to the chapter at hand for this week. Come join us for the next installment in the series, "Nehemiah" from chapter 3.
 Message Track for Big Ideas:
  1. Week 1:  Praying people prove themselves capable servants and skillful leaders.
  2. Week 2: Nehemiah models well the complete Christian who sets his own course upon compelling theology and then follows the logical consequences of that course.
  3. Week 3: Godly servants pursue causes that God can bless.

WHAT I DISCOVERED LAST WEEK!
Each  SUNDAY the Puggles and Cubbies hop and jump their way to some serious fun. These boys and girls are just beginning their journey in AWANA and every week they are favored by activities that help them grow more comfortable with one another and Godly leaders who love them.  This may be the first time that they hear that God loves them but they will have many opportunities to invite their parents to activities designed to awaken the family's heart to Christ.  AND THAT'S JUST ONE REASON AWANA IS SO VALUABLE.
Our next Sunday supper, Sunday December 7!
What's Brewing this week in the Cafe?
Special time: 7:00 pm
This week we celebrate Thanksgiving
by gathering together to sing, worship, and yes, hear a great story.  Join us Wednesday, bring the kids along, and get comfortable with a cup of hot chocolate, while we share the story of Squanto from a perspective you may have never heard before. Our new tradition of singing together as an "a cappella" small group has given fresh energy to our praise. We'll join in on some traditional favorites.  Our special time for this week: 7:00- 8:00 pm. See you there!

MEN AT WORK

OUR TEXT BOOK FOR STUDY IS A.W. TOZER:
THE INCREDIBLE CHRISTIAN
Men, particularly Christian men are under attack from the world around them, their own expectations, and yes, The Devil Himself. It's easy to look around at all that can trip us up as husbands, fathers, and grandfathers and become discouraged. But help is on the way. Every Friday we meet at Cousins restaurant (Northshore exit, I-196 and Blue Star Highway) to share hunting stories, fellowship, and reflect on a different chapter of our study book. Yes, I know its early, but this 6:30
appointment might just make the rest of your day more manageable. And we're done by 7:30-- even earlier if you have to get to work. See you Fridays at 6:30 AM.
THIS WEEK: "SERVING IN THE EMERGENCY"
"Before there can be acceptable service, there must be an acceptable life."
A.W. TOZER
Prayer... as necessary as air itself
The Marks of a healthy church include the regularity and fervency of its corporate prayer life.
Prayer is transforming.  While normally, we meet and come together to pray, this week, we'll direct our energies toward developing a thankful heart. I challenge you to do the hard work of prayer. Want some ideas to motivate your quest?
