How do teachers assess things like creativity and collaboration, or cross-cultural skills? Today, Measuring 21st Century Competencies, a new report developed out of Asia Society's Global Cities Education Network, focuses on just that question. The Network is comprised of urban school systems working together on overcoming common education challenges. The participating cities are Denver, Hong Kong, Houston, Lexington, Melbourne, Seattle, Seoul, Shanghai, Singapore, and Toronto. eLearning Infographics & blog.firstbook.org

There are plenty of kids out there with a strong interest in STEM subjects, but the job preparing them is not done good enough, especially when it comes to children from low-income neighborhoods. The How STEM Education Makes a Difference in Children's Lives Infographic illustrates this problem and opportunity. STEM education can have an impact on children's lives. Kids, especially kids from low-income families, need the chance to get excited and the support to stay that way, including access to books and resources.

Succeeding with Inquiry in Science and Math Classrooms Webinar
ASCD

Inquiry-based instruction, when led effectively, has the potential to deeply engage and appropriately challenge all learners. This webinar for mathematics and science educators and leaders provides the pedagogical understanding necessary to improve student achievement. Further, participants will receive numerous suggestions that they can implement as soon as tomorrow. Participants will be taught how to fish (learn effective inquiry-based pedagogy) and will be given a few fish (learn specific examples).

We appreciate your continued support and involvement.

Sincerely,

The STEM Education Coalition
