I am curious about your thoughts on these 3 'shopping holidays' (Black Friday, Small Business Saturday and Cyber Monday) that are conspicuously designed to get you to open your wallets and spend money. Do you get excited by a sale or see it as businesses taking advantage of the holiday shopping madness?

Personally, as a consumer, I tend to ignore the hype and wait until after New Year's to do my shopping. If I need something, I'll buy it when I am ready. On the other hand, I keep seeing all these great deals and wonder, "is this really my last and only chance to get that electronic gadget that I don't really need for 90% off list price?" :)

As a business, there's pressure to participate. It's 'herd mentality.' If every other business is doing it, am I stupid not to do it as well? I also don't want my customers and friends (that's you) to expect and wait for sales. I always try to offer the best possible prices all the time. My pricing strategy has always been to reward the planners and penalize the procrastinators with a series of incremental price increases as each event or trip fills up. Do sales and specials go against that strategy?

If you're a marketing person, did you notice the color scheme in this email? I Google searched for the HTML hexadecimal color codes most used in web/email holiday marketing.
