Residential Program Health Fair
As the year comes to a close our health kick has just begun. The 2014 Double A, Double H (Being Aware, Active, Healthy and Happy) Health Fair was a success! Over 40 clients at our Mama/Kaya site were connected to a community based health/resource establishment in St. Louis. Among the many participants were SAGE, Walgreens, University of Missouri Extension, Grace Hill Medical, Schnucks Pharmacy, City of St. Louis Dept. of Health, Father Support Center and Juice+/L.E.A.N. program. United States Conference on AIDS 
Several staff members were able to attend the USCA last month in San Diego. The purpose of the conference is to increase the strength and diversity of the community-based response to the HIV/AIDS epidemic through education, training, new partnerships, collaboration and networking. Doorways was asked to present on best practices and new strategies for dealing with the wait list for Housing Opportunities for People With AIDS. USCA is the largest AIDS-related gathering in the U.S., bringing together thousands of workers from all fronts of the HIV/AIDS epidemic to build national support networks, exchange the latest information and learn cutting-edge tools to address challenges. |
 Holiday Cards Are Now Available!
The cover image (right) was chosen by our Facebook friends out of several drawings created by children in our Residential Program. Though the winning image reads Merry Christmas, the child gave permission for the image to be altered so that a version reading "Happy Holidays" could also be available. The cards are 10 for $15 and help towards our mission of providing housing and services to improve quality of life and health outcomes for people affected by HIV/AIDS.
