A Happy and Healthy Thanksgiving!
Making Thanksgiving Meaningful
(and keeping it that way)

Rabbi Paul offers these ideas for a spiritual Thanksgiving:

A Prayer for your Thanksgiving mealFor the expanding grandeur of Creation, worlds known and unknown, galaxies beyond galaxies, filling us with awe and challenging our imaginations, we gratefully give thanks to You... Modim anachnu lach (We thank You). More.

Keeping the Peace at the Thanksgiving Table: As we share in the proverbial bounty of the harvest, and enjoy the company of loved ones, we try not to get into food fights over politics or finances. It's often a challenge for relatives to maintain a properly warm and loving atmosphere on Thanksgiving, given the risk that siblings and cousins might stir up more grudges than gravy. More.

The 10th Anniversary Of Mitzvah Day At Congregation Or Ami Rocked Again!!!!

Mitzvah Day co-chairs Laurie Tragen-Boykoff and Cathy Spencer write:

Thank you! What was once an "event" has now become an "experience," says Rabbi Paul Kipnes. Or Ami's Mitzvah Day Comfort Bag Project spoke to potential members and they came to help others! Older congregants who previously thought Mitzvah Day was just for kids came.  Hundreds of us came together, pooling our energy and compassion, resulting in packages of hope for four hundred of abused and neglected children. One congregant said that the personal investment and care felt throughout Or Ami that day moved her to tears.

S o many to thank.  These folks invested many hours and/or tzedakah, to say nothing of spirit and enthusiasm, to our Mitzvah Day: Cathy Spencer, Debbie Cutter, Peter Kraut, Aaron Koch, Scott Harris, Terry Boykoff, Sari Gassner, Gordon Gassner, Laurie Keleman, Steve Keleman, Jim Kilcourse, Sandy Kilcourse, Nadia Kilcourse, Robert Kelly, Danny Grone, Lucille Goldin, Paul Goldin, Kevin Palm, Fred Gruber,  Karin Polsky,  Sophie Harris, Andie Harris, Amy Pucker, Wendy Rifkin, Adrienne Bloom, Coby Hilborne, Randee Hilborne, Suzanne Levenson Goldstein, Nadine Hankin, Faryl Oschin, Jacqueline Oschin, Daniel Oschin, Berte Bass, Marcy Fried, Dawn Beghi, Jeff Singer,  Lenore Alexander, Linda Blumenthal, Henry Stupp,  Nina Treiman,  Aidan Goldenson, Jacob Ferber, Kerri Graver, Kiren Dosanjh Zucker,  Camila Grossman, Debra Gurin, Leslie Kraut, Josh Kraut, Jacob Povsky, Samantha Povsky, Robbie Kresch, Debra Kurtz, Leslie Levy, Dani Pattiz, Debbie Pattiz, Ike Praw, Brooke Praw, Marc Rosenberg, Chase Rosenberg, Lily Rosenberg, Caitlin Sacks, Stephanie Shapiro, Genevieve Voda, Chloe Voda, Olivia Voda, Susie Stark, Allen Stark, Marsha Katz Rothpan, Gene Student, Doug Orens, David Melnick, Devon Melnick, Lindsey Kurtz, Chloe Voda, Olivia Voda, Bennett Lapiner, Justin Torres, Jill Torres. And of course, our incredible office staff of Susie, Barbara and Laurel, our Mishpacha Coordinator Matti and her faculty, and our clergy Rabbi Paul, Cantor Doug and Rabbi Julia.

And of course we thank our Business and Corporate Sponsors for their support.

There are others who should be individually singled out and I apologize for whomever I   inadvertently omitted.  Please let me know that I missed naming you and know, too, that you are appreciated.

November 2015 will be here before you know it!!  It's not too early to start collecting the new, needed items the foster kids appreciate.

Why Do You Love Congregation Or Ami?

Its the Support and the Happy Environment

Recent Or Ami Bat Mitzvah Danielle Mook writes:

I love being part of Congregation Or Ami. Everyone supports each other in our beliefs, interests, and goals. The Hebrew Tutoring, Mishpacha, and Kesher teachers all help and care for their students in class no matter what our strengths and weaknesses are. Or Ami is always a happy environment that is fun and never too serious, even at Hebrew School! I also love how we set up events, like at people's houses, movie theaters, or Sky High, so we get to know each other in a fun way. Congregation Or Ami is the best temple to be part of and I am glad I am here.

What's your story? Why do you (and your family) love being part of Congregation Or Ami? Email your story to Rabbi Paul Kipnes.
