Holiday Giving Program 2014

Find your own special way to ensure that the families you support throughout the year have a joyous & heartfelt holiday season!

The holidays are a special time of year; a time of peace, harmony and goodwill. Sadly, this isn't true for everyone and it can be so difficult for so many, particularly individuals and families who have experienced domestic violence.

To help these families have a holiday season filled with warmth and joy, the Jeanne Geiger Crisis Center is once again sponsoring its annual Holiday Giving Program.  The program allows you to give in a way that works best for your family or business. If you would like to donate you can choose to participate in one or more of the three programs detailed below.

Our families appreciate your support as do all of us here at the Jeanne Geiger Crisis Center.

Wishing you all a safe, happy, and healthy holiday Season!

Fund a Need
Legal Services Program
#Giving Tuesday

For over three decades, the Jeanne Geiger Crisis Center(JGCC) has responded to the needs of families in crisis due to domestic violence. Using evidence-based best practices and innovative approaches, JGCC mitigates the effects of trauma, averts domestic violence homicides, and engages communities in promoting long term social change.  Our family-centered services utilize proven approaches to meet the complex needs of women and children in crisis due to domestic violence, including: advocacy and support; evidence-based therapy; and legal assistance and representation.

The Legal Services Program helps victims of domestic violence navigate the legal system through advocacy, legal representation and education.  Last year the legal program and our legal referral panel provided over 700 hours of representation to 233 clients,  and of these clients, nearly 70% qualified for pro bono or reduced fee representation.  Approximately 55% of clients seeking services from the legal program requested support to obtain a divorce; 20% needed representation at a restraining order hearing; and,  25% requested assistance with matters of child custody and support.

This year, 80% of the  Legal Program has been funded through  state contracts, leaving us to privately raise an additional $20,000 by December 31, 2014.  When thinking of year-end gifts or if you plan on participating in #GivingTuesday, the 24 hour world-wide initiative dedicated to "giving back" to non-profit organizations this December 2nd, please consider  donating in support of our Legal Services Program. Your gift will go a long way towards  helping our clients regain safety and self-sufficiency.  On behalf of those we serve, we thank you in advance for your consideration and support!
