Join us every Wednesday in the summer for our summer movie series.  We will be showing Joe vs The Volcano.  Location: Community Room.
            
Community Knit 
Every Thursday, 10:00 am - 11:30 am

Learn the healing and calming effects of knitting and crocheting.  Socialize with others with the same interest.

Help others by either teaching someone to knit or
making something needed by a child, a senior citizen,
or a homeless person.

Bring your knitting materials!  Some materials may be

Have you ever wanted to explore your family history? Join us for the Genealogy Club. We will meet in the Local History Room to access genealogical resources and Ancestry.com. Created Equal: America's Civil Rights Struggle is an initiative of the National Endowment for the Humanities that uses the power of documentary films to encourage community discussion of America's civil rights history. NEH has partnered with the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History to develop programmatic and support materials for the sites. New London Maritime Society's program at Public Library of New London is one of 473 institutions across the country awarded a set of  films
chronicling the history of the Civil Rights Movement.

 

 

THE ABOLITIONISTS Part II

Abolitionist allies Frederick Douglass, William Lloyd Garrison,  

Harriet Beecher Stowe, John Brown and Angelina Grimk� turned a  

despised fringe movement against chattel slavery into a force that  

literally changed the nation.

Cloaking Devices. Time Travel. Laser Weapons. These may

all seem like things of science fiction movies, but in fact they  

are very real, and are being experimented with right now! This  

multimedia program will explore the strange, and sometimes

frightening, history of inventions that were thought up and  

created by some people that were once said to be "Mad Scientists."  

Will these inventions change the world, or could they destroy it?  

What happens when science runs amok? And what other strange  

things are being worked on in today's science labs around the world?

The Art Experiment      
Every Thursday in July
10:30 am - 11:30 am

 

Each week, we will be experimenting with color, texture, light and shadow.  Come make "trash" art, "found" art, "sound" art and more!  Children should be able to use scissors independently or can work with  
a parent's assistance. This program is free and no registration is required,  
but please call ahead with groups of 6 or more so we can be sure to have  
plenty of supplies on hand.  Location: Children's Activity Room.


Read With Gus - The Dog Who Loves Reading!

Visit with Gus, a trained therapy dog, and his owner Janis. Learn about therapy dogs- how they are trained and what they do. Children can then take turns reading to Gus. He's a great listener! Location: Children's Room.
