The Wake Tech Small Business Center (SBC) is a state-funded organization that provides prospective and existing small business owners with information and assistance for starting or expanding a small business, through confidential one-on-one counseling, seminars, workshops, classes, and access to a resource library at zero cost to the participant. 
  
Our mission is to increase the success rate and number of viable small businesses in Wake County, leading to job creating and retention.

Doing Business in Mexico

Mexico is the second-most popular export destination for small and mid-size US businesses. And our free trade agreement with Mexico makes business activities easier for small and growing US exporters and importers. This seminar discusses export and import opportunities in Mexico. Topics will be presented by Noth Carolina and Mexico trade experts, who will also be available to answer your detailed questions about how to get started with importing and exporting. The March 14 - 18, 2015 NC trade mission to Guadalajara, Mexico will be discussed in detail and attendees will be able to register for the trip at this time.  Click here to register for the information session today!

Wake Tech Names New Small Business Center Director
  
If you have had the opportunity to recently attend one of the SBC's free seminars, you have more than likely met Theresa Peaden.  Theresa was selected to serve as the Small Business Center Director at Wake Tech.  She has more than 18 years' experience in the business consulting and workforce development fields.
  
Theresa has a passion for keeping the American dream alive through business ownership.  She works daily to counsel prospective and existing business owners and plans value added seminars that are of interest to entrepreneurs.  Theresa looks forward to assisting clients in starting or expanding their business through one-on-one, confidential counseling, as well as through a host of educational programs.  Schedule your counseling appointment with Theresa or another SBC counselor today!
  
SBC by the Numbers

 

The North Carolina Community Colleges' Small Business Center Network assists in starting an average of more than 650 businesses each year.  Small Business Centers have an economic impact in 90% of all NC Counties each year including helping to create and retain over 3,000 jobs annually.

  

During the 2013 - 2014 year, more than 1,725 attendees participated in one or more of the no cost seminars offered by the Small Business Center.  Evaluations were consistently rated high with 93% of attendees indicating program offerings were either "Very Good" or "Excellent." 

 

In addition to those who took advantage of the free seminar offerings, 309 clients received free cfinger-keyboard.jpgounseling services.  Twenty-two (22) of those clients began new businesses creating 48 jobs, while existing business retained 99 jobs.
