Now Hiring: Part Time Youth Programming Advisor

Beth Tikvah Congregation

Creative, enthusiastic, and energetic individual sought to advise youth groups. Responsibilities include planning and implementing a variety of programs for young teens and serving as a role model for Jewish teens. Advisor will lead the youth groups and help the teens grow as Jews and as community. Strong commitment to Jewish youth work is preferred. Group meets an average of twice a month.

Approximately 10 hrs/month

This event on campus aims to increase political engagement among students. There will be politicians from all leading parties in BC with an academic background (PhD, MD, etc.) to talk about the switch they did from Academia to political life.

The politicians are going to talk about the path they took since graduate school up to where they are today, how they ended up in politics, why they chose it, what they would recommend to other grads, why should grads consider going into politics, how their academic background helped them in politics, etc.).

The event will take place in Hillel house on UBC campus on March 30th from 5pm - 7pm, feel free to invite your friends :)

Hillel is running a stem cell drive at its next hot lunch, getting everyone to swab their cheek and fill out a form to find out if they are a match to save someone's life! Its challenging to find a match for a stem cell transplant, and, currently, over 1000 Canadian patients cannot find a match anywhere in the world. People are more likely to find a match in their own ethnic group (i.e. Ashkenazi Jews, Sephardic Jews), and there's a special need for male donors, since there are so few males on Canada's current donor-database. If you sign up and find out you're a match, there's no obligation to donate, and you'd get more information at that time. Stem cells are most commonly donated in a process thats similar to blood donation (https://www.blood.ca/en/stem-cell/donation-process). The donation process is simple, easy, and safe, and you'd not only save a life but you'd be the only person in the world who could have saved that life. Join us for hot lunch and get swabbed after!
