Promotional Opportunities Available at Centre Ice and Howe Arena

When it comes to marketing your business, hundreds of options exist, but the promotional opportunities available at Centre Ice and Howe Arena are completely unique. Your brand receives excellent Exposure Value - proven by a recent Joyce Julius On-Site Inventory Analysis - while supporting non-profit community ice rinks which are part of the 501(c)(3) organization, I.C.E. (Involved Citizens Enterprises).

Without the support of advertisers, I.C.E. would not be able to fulfill its mission of "providing accessible and affordable ice skating programs to the Grand Traverse Region." While supporting the rinks is important to many businesses, so is the bottom line. Marketing dollars can be tight and must effectively promote the brand of the business. Nearly 400,000 people visit the rinks annually and the Joyce Julius Analysis proves that your message will be seen. It's a Win-Win...Brand awareness while supporting Your Community Ice Rinks!

For more information on all the opportunities that exist and to see the results of the Joyce Julius report, contact Tricia Frey, Marketing Director, at (231) 933-7465 x106 or email [email protected].

Spotlight On Volunteerism and Giving:
Dianne Jurica and Morgan Stanley

Centre Ice and Howe Arena - entities of the non-profit organization I.C.E. (Involved Citizens Enterprises) - depend on donations and volunteers to operate effectively and efficiently. Dianne Jurica, a long-time I.C.E. volunteer has turned her donated time into donated cash through her company Morgan Stanley.

Jurica is a Senior Registered Associate with Morgan Stanley where she has worked for seven years with Branko Gegich. "Morgan Stanley takes volunteerism very seriously," says Jurica. "We have a Global Volunteer month in June where everyone is expected to volunteer at least one hour.  We have corporate matching in the fourth quarter and if you track your hours throughout the year you can apply for different grant levels."

And that's exactly what Jurica has done on two occasions. I.C.E. received donations of $1,500 and $1,000 in 2013 and 2014 respectively from the Morgan Stanley Foundation, funds that will benefit youth programs. The dollar figures are reflective of the amount of time Jurica donated to I.C.E. which came to approximately 56 hours in 2013 and 43 hours in 2014.

Jurica's volunteerism has been extensive. "I have volunteered for the past 12 years in many capacities including team manager and treasurer for my son's house hockey teams," says Jurica. "I've also been a Bantam rep for the house hockey committee, the VP of House Hockey for GTHA and a volunteer for the TC NHL Prospect Tournament and Detroit Red Wings Training Camp as a driver for players, coaches and scouts."

As a Traverse City native, Jurica grew up skating at the Front Street rink, now the fire station.  "I have so many great memories," says Jurica. "My husband Tom is a TC native too. I get great joy watching kids having so much fun on the ice, whether it is figure skating or hockey.  It's great camaraderie and provides lots of wonderful memories for them. My son Peter, who is now in his third year at Michigan Tech, played seven years of house and travel hockey and made many great friendships."

When asked about the benefits, rewards and importance of volunteering, Jurica had this to say: "Centre Ice is an awesome place for youth. We never had such an amazing facility here when I was a kid. If we had I probably would have wanted to play hockey on a team. It is important to volunteer for something you are passionate about. Whether it is at Centre Ice or another non profit, it is so important for a strong community. A bonus is that I work at a company that will also grant money to the organization to assist local youth based on my volunteer hours and that benefits Traverse City."

As described on its website, "The Morgan Stanley Foundation has been supporting the communities in which we live and work for more than 50 years. We believe a healthy start and a solid education are the fundamentals upon which future success is built. In service of this mission, Morgan Stanley and its employees generously donate intellectual capital, leadership and "sweat equity" to leverage the Foundation's financial support, maximize our impact on communities and deepen our partnerships with grantees."

All of us at I.C.E. thank Jurica for her volunteerism and for the added benefit provided in the way of financial support through Morgan Stanley.  When asked if she would be willing to be featured in this article, Jurica replied "Yes. Maybe it will inspire others who have companies that do this type of charitable giving."

I.C.E. hopes it will inspire others, too.  Contact Executive Director Terry Marchand at (231) 933-7465 for more information on how to begin.
