ATLANTA GA.
Security officers are first responders frequently responding to calls of ill persons in many different environments including schools, churches, shopping malls, airports, hospitals and offices.
Each year, hundreds and possibly even thousands, are exposed to airborne viruses, toxic contaminants and diseases.
While most of the time the outcome is nothing more than the flu, some are infected with serious illnesses due to contact with persons carrying the virus or disease.
Ebola, while not widespread at this time in the U.S. is a highly contagious disease that security officers may come in contact with during their everyday duties.
This disease is not something to fear but rather, something that we need to understand, train for and be prepared to take actions against should our personnel find themselves in a possible situation involving any of the signs of Ebola.
Make no mistake, Ebola is deadly and at this time, there is no cure, but there are emergency protocols, precautions, and steps that we can take to insure the best outcome should an officer come face to face with anyone who may have the virus.
The following link will give you a comprehensive insight on this virus and how to recognize it, respond to potential emergencies and how to prevent it from spreading to other persons or areas.
