Mayor Makes Slate of Reappointments Confirmed by City Council
Westland, MI - The Westland City Council had a full slate of reappointments to confirm on its agenda for the Monday, August 4 meeting. Stanley Brantley was reappointed to the Brownfield Redevelopment Authority, Ernie Keast to the Local Development Finance Authority (LDFA), and David Rappaport and Ken Sharp were both reappointed to the Planning Commission.

Stanley Brantley has served on the Brownfield Redevelopment Authority for six of his nine years living in Westland, and is the owner of Brantley Development in Westland. Brantley played an integral role in the approval of the Brownfield plans for both the MJR Theatre and Tim Hortons at the corner of Wayne and Warren roads.

Ernie Keast has served on the LDFA since its inception, and has lived in Westland for 40 years. Keast formerly served as the City's Water and Sewer Superintendent for 24 years. Keast also helped gain approval for the Newburgh and Cherry Hill intersection expansion currently underway.

The Brownfield Authority facilitates the redevelopment of brownfield sites throughout Westland for business and property owners. The LDFA aims to encourage local development to prevent conditions of unemployment and to promote economic growth.

Ken Sharp currently serves as the Chair of the Planning Commission, and has held a seat on the commission for eighteen years. Sharp has called Westland home for 60 years and is active in the local Lions club.

David Rappaport was appointed to fill an unexpected vacancy last year, and has now been appointed to a full three year term. Rappaport has lived in Westland for over 20 years and is a local attorney.

The Planning Commission handles zoning, land use, and hears ordinance enforcement issues for the City.

"The citizens who serve on our City's Boards and Commissions are valuable public servants for our community," said Mayor Wild. "I look forward to all the appointees' continued dedication and service to Westland."
