A US-India comeback?
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi
 has invited President Obama to be the chief guest at India's Republic Day celebrations on Jan. 26. In an op-ed for The Boston Globe, SAI Steering Committee member Nicholas Burns, HKS, explains how this simple but important symbolic gesture may kickstart the revival both countries have been looking for.

Kashmir's women in wait
Broken Memory, Shining Dust depicts the extraordinary journey of Kashmiri women, the "women in wait," whose loved ones went missing in the conflict-ridden valley of Kashmir in last two decades. "More than the political aspect, it is understanding how women cope with the phenomenon of disappearances that appealed to me as a filmmaker," says director Nilosree Biswas in an interview with SAI on the unique culture of Kashmir.
Mapping Ebola
Over the last decade, cell phone penetration has grown exponentially in most urban centers around the world. Public health epidemiologists could use data from these devices to trace everyone that came in contact with a contagious person - like in the case of Ebola. In an article for Emergency Physicians International, leaders of SAI's Mobile Technology research projectSatchit Balsari, New York-Presbyterian's Weill Cornell Hospital; HSPH, Jennifer Leaning, FXB Center, HSPH, JP Onnela, HSPH, and Tarun Khanna, HBS; SAI, explore the potential of cell phone data to improve public health.

Apply for SAI's Summer Program in India on mobile technology

The 8-week program provides Harvard undergraduates an opportunity to examine the use of mobile technology to deliver services in the areas of education, health, agriculture, and banking. The program is lead by Tarun Khanna, SAI, HBS, JP Onnela, HSPH, and Satchit Balsari, HSPH. The deadline to apply is January 29, 2015.
