THE PATHWAY TO GREATNESS

Good Day Family,

Jesus took the time on numerous occasions to teach His disciples the importance of servanthood. Serving used to be thought of as an honorable profession in our society. However, today many people think it beneath them to serve. Evidently, there was also such a problem in the first century, since Jesus spent so much time emphasizing the importance of serving.

As we serve others, especially those who need the help most, we are serving God. In fact, serving is a spiritual discipline. It is a pathway to a deeper and more profound relationship with God. Each year during the seasons of Thanksgiving and Christmas, people look for opportunities to volunteer in service to others. At our annual Thanksgiving and Christmas meals at church, we have so many volunteers from outside of the church, that there is hardly room for the members to help in serving. This is good, but wouldn't it be awesome if people were calling the church everyday asking how they might help us as we serve others.

As Christians we must take servanthood seriously. It is the only true way to serve God. When we humble ourselves in the service of others, we become more like Christ. Our selfless deeds of service done for others, especially the least among us, show the world the God that we serve and the Christ that we claim. Remember, your act of servanthood makes the world a better place and remember, your service is the price you pay for the space you occupy.

With a servant's heart,

Rev. Paul
