Summer of Science Movie Series        
Wednesday, August 6
5:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Join us every Wednesday in the summer for our summer movie series.  We will be showing Gremlins.  Location:  Community Room.

 

 

            
Community Knit 
Every Thursday, 10:00 am - 11:30 am

Learn the healing and calming effects of knitting and crocheting.  Socialize with others with the same interest.

Help others by either teaching someone to knit or
making something needed by a child, a senior citizen,
or a homeless person.

Bring your knitting materials!  Some materials may be
provided.


            
Introduction to Computers         
Friday, August 8
12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

This hands-on class is for the beginner who has little or no experience using a computer. It will introduce you to the basics of computer terminology  

and the popular word processing program Microsoft WORD. There are no  

prerequisites for this class. Seats are limited to 5.

Tech Support Workshop for Seniors

Did you know that the library has access to information on 100,000 grantmakers and 2.3 million grants?  Sign up for this class to learn how to access and harness this information for the greater good of your non profit organization.  Space is limited to 10 people and preregistration is required.

The Art Experiment      
Thursday, August 7, 14, 21
10:30 am - 11:30 am

 

Each week, we will be experimenting with color, texture, light and shadow.  Come make "trash" art, "found" art, "sound" art and more!  Children should be able to use scissors independently or can work with  
a parent's assistance. This program is free and no registration is required,  
but please call ahead with groups of 6 or more so we can be sure to have  
plenty of supplies on hand.  Location: Children's Activity Room.


Tye Dye A T-Shirt           
Thursday, August 7
3:00 pm - 4:00 pm

 

Create a groovy Tie Die T-shirt with your favorite colors. You MUST register for this program and space is limited. Please call the Children's Department at 860-447-1411 x4 and provide us with the correct size T-shirt you will need. You may also bring your own white T-shirt to dye, but there is a limit of one garment per participant.  

 

 

 

Fizz Boom Read Fridays - Go For The Stars!

A Program you will never forget! A Multi-media Space Program Presentation featuring ROBO the Friendly Robot. Join Gary Pozzato, Aerospace Educator for this one-hour long family event appropriate for 

ages 5 -105. Meet Robo, the Friendly Robot and learn about living in space,  

microgravity, and weightlessness. Audience participation will be encouraged.

Read With Gus - The Dog Who Loves
Reading!            
Thursday, August 14
1:00 pm - 1:30 pm

 

Visit with Gus, a trained therapy dog, and his owner Janis. Learn about therapy dogs- how they are trained and what they do. Children can then take turns reading to Gus. He's a great listener! Location: Children's Room.  
Fizz, Boom, Read Fridays - Jeepers Creepers with Riverside Reptiles             
Friday, August 15
10:30 am - 11:30 am

 

Encounter some creepy-looking creatures with Brian of Riverside Reptiles! You will see and touch a variety of reptiles, amphibians, arachnids, insects and more!  Don't worry, we won't bite! All ages and no registration is required. Location:  Community Room.
Banking Day For Kids             
Monday, August 18
12:30 pm - 1:30 pm

 

Connie Simos from Peoples Bank will lead the kids in some fun activities while teaching them the basics of banking! This program is free and open to kids of all ages. No registration is required. This program will run in conjunction with the Free Summer Lunch Program and take place in the
Children's Room. (Note: this program will take the place of our regularly
scheduled craft activity.)
