This story begins with a tweet from February 19, 2015, but it actually found its roots on Google in 2007, in a mind filled with polar bears.

"I was searching on Google one night because I really love polar bears and I thought someday I'm going to go see them," said Detroit attorney Jill Bankey. "I found Seal River Lodge, I compared it to sleeping on a train on the tundra, and I just picked Seal River Lodge and said I'm going to do that. I sent Churchill Wild an email and that's how it all got started."

GROWING UP WITH POLAR BEARS
The Reimer family 2005
How many of you can say you've wiped polar bear snot off of a window? Mike and Jeanne Reimer's daughters can. They grew up in the wilds of northern Manitoba at the family's first eco-lodge and have some pretty fascinating memories as a result.

"I remember one time when I was probably about eight-years-old," said Karli. "I was outside at and I yelled, 'BEAR!' at the top of my lungs, and I got in big trouble. I got a very stern talking to about that because bears have always been a very serious part of our lives, just as far as, you don't joke around about where the bears are."

"Like never cry wolf, I guess," said Allison. "Never cry bear."

The girl who cried bear?

ARE YOU UP FOR THE 4TH ANNUAL
POLAR BEAR RUN?
If you're a marathoner looking for a new challenge, consider a exciting and unique marathon in northern Canada, more specifically, in Churchill, Manitoba - the Polar Bear Capital of the world - on November 21, 2015.

The Polar Bear Marathon is partially in support of the charity work done for three First Nation communities, baseball camps with the children and youth in the remote locations of Tadoule Lake, Pauingassi and Poplar Hill. You may also wish to choose your own charity and raise some funds for your expenses and your charity cause.

There have been about 15 International runners each year for the past three years but would like to get 20 runners out this year.

Follow this link if you think you are "cool" enough for this rare Arctic experience.
