MIT Sloan Executive Education is pleased to announce a new course--Engaging with Innovation Ecosystems: The Corporate Perspective--offered through edX, an online learning platform that presents interactive online courses from world-renowned universities and institutions. Course participants will learn how to develop relationships with a range of innovation ecosystem stakeholders such as entrepreneurs, risk capital providers, universities, and government policy-makers. The course draws on the findings of the MIT Regional Entrepreneurship Acceleration Program (REAP), which brings together cities, regions, and countries to learn from MIT research and each other how to create a successful, innovation-based regional economy.

Spear Says Veterans Affairs Department Should Focus on Measurement, Not Money
Although the recently approved $16.3 billion measure to help fix the Department of Veterans Affairs is substantial, MIT Sloan Senior Lecturer Steve Spear says it's not enough. According to Spear, the Veterans Secretary needs to change the agency's dynamics, focusing on what is measured, why it's measured, and what steps will be taken in response to those measurements. In addition, he says the Department also needs to create a culture where issues can be identified early on so they can be resolved quickly.
