"The Future of Progressive Education"

Sunday, September 7, 2014
4:30 - 6:00 p.m.
Edward Yeomans' Ojai Valley School, c. 1930        Courtesy: Ojai Valley School
For more than a century, Ojai has been noted for its many schools based on progressive education principles. But these days, many people associate the term "education reform" with a more traditional back-to-basics approach. So what does "progressive education" means in 2014, what are its future prospects?

Join us at the museum as Linda Taylor, president of the Ojai Unified School District Board and former longtime Nordhoff High School teacher, leads a panel discussion. Additional panelists include:
  • Susan Hardenbergh of Monica Ros School
  • Paul Herder of Oak Grove School
  • Karen Morse of Ojai Valley School
  • Dennis Rice of Villanova (formerly of Happy Valley and Laurel Springs)
  • Craig Walker of Valley Oak Charter (formerly of Nordhoff and Chaparral)
Event is FREE TO THE PUBLIC in celebration of local educators and the Ethel Percy Andrus Exhibit (see below). We look forward to seeing you at the Museum!
