"Alzheimer's Disease Workshops"
"Alzheimer's Communication and Behavior"
6:30pm
Main Lecture Room N110
Alzheimer's is one of the least understood diseases, and communication with an AD patient is very difficult. In
this presentation you will learn what various behaviors
of an AD patient mean and how to better communicate
with someone with AD. If you know of someone with AD, this presentation will give you a different, positive perspective for caring for that person.
The speaker for these sessions is Len Smith, a volunteer speaker for the Alzheimer's Association who speaks on their behalf throughout the Delaware Valley and South Jersey.
Len's interest in Alzheimer's Disease (AD) began in 1980 when his mother first had symptoms of AD, intensified over the next 12 years as her memory completely disappeared, and then went through it once again as his mother-in-law died of AD in 2010. Earlier this year Len went through the neuropsychological testing for dementia and will share what those tests entail.
These workshops are free to attend.
