David Daniels, Carlos Moseley to be Inducted into Spartanburg Music Trail March 3:

The Spartanburg Music Trail expands again when signage honoring David Daniels and Carlos DuPr Moseley is unveiled in a ceremony along St. John Street just west of The George Dean Johnson School of Business Tuesday, March 3, at noon. The public is invited, and David Daniels will be in attendance.

"Carlos Moseley and David Daniels are without question the two sons of Spartanburg whose stars have burned the brightest in the top realms of the classical music universe," commented Miles Hoffman, who directs the Carlos Moseley Chamber Music Series at Converse College and selected music clips and biographies for the trail stops. "During his time at the New York Philharmonic, Carlos was one of the most important and most innovative music executives in the world, a beloved figure in the field and a friend and colleague to many of the 20th century's greatest composers and performers. David Daniels has revolutionized people's conception of the countertenor voice and its possibilities, and he is in constant demand with all the world's great opera companies and top orchestras."

Southeastern Composers Converge at Converse to Share New Music:

Composers from across the Southeast will gather at Converse College on Feb. 26 - 28 to explore and share new music during the 2015 Southeastern Composers League Annual Forum. Dr. Scott Robbins and Dr. David Berry, resident composers of the Petrie School of Music, will host the event, which is a partnership between the Composers League and the International Alliance for Women in Music. A series of free public concerts will be held throughout the forum.

"This is a chance for the community to hear unfamiliar and interesting music and meet the people who created it. We will explore new music by living composers, much of it experimental, and much of it not at all like the classical style music people usually associate with the Petrie School of Music," said Robbins. "There will also be a large amount of electronic music (known as fixed media music today)."

"To say that he is the most acclaimed countertenor of the day, perhaps the best ever, is to understate his achievement. He is simply a great singer."
-The New York Times

A Spartanburg native and son of beloved Converse voice professors Perry and Phyllis Daniels, he has appeared with all the major international opera companies and on the world's greatest concert and recital stages, and he has helped to redefine his voice category for the modern public.
