There will be no meal deliveries today, February 25, 2015

Dear Friend,

It seems that we have not been able to catch a break from the weather this week. Due to this morning's wintery weather mix and the forecast for accumulating snow, we will not deliver meals today, February 25th.

Canceling today's meal delivery was a difficult decision and one that I did not make lightly.  Meals On Wheels relies on over 400 volunteers each day to deliver meals to our homebound clients.  We must think of the safety of these wonderful people and not put them in harm's way.  Even when main thoroughfares are sanded, the side streets, sidewalks, and steps to homes remain slippery and are a danger for our volunteers. The safety and well-being of our clients and volunteers is always my top priority.

We do our best to prepare for inclement weather situations by providing our clients with shelf-stable meals to have on hand for times such as this. We have delivered three shelf-stable meals to our clients since October and have asked them to hold on to these meals for inclement weather days when we are unable to deliver meals.

We ask everyone in the community to look in on your elderly and homebound friends, family members, and neighbors if you are able to do so.

Sincerely,

Carla Jutson
