One City One Pride Poster Competition Attention artists: If you have some graphic skills and want your art to be seen by literally tens of thousands of people, enter our One City One Pride Design Competition. This years festival is themed 'Life at 30' and takes place in June 2015. There's no fee to apply. Deadline January 7, 2015.

MOCA Talk-Cameron and the LA Counterculture
Sunday, December 14, 3:00 pm West Hollywood City Council Chambers 625 N. San Vicente Blvd. Join poet, author, and publisher Tosh Berman; artists Jean Ferro and George Herms; and poet David Meltzer for an exploration of Cameron's personal influence and artistic importance. Artist, performer, occultist, and poet Marjorie Cameron Parsons Kimmel (known simply as Cameron) is an under-recognized, and at times misunderstood, figure in the Los Angeles counterculture. Both her artistic and spiritual endeavors are interwoven with (and essential to) the histories of the Los Angeles occult, and avant-garde, and beat culture. Exhibition curator Yael Lipshutz will moderate. Attendees are encouraged to view the exhibition before and after the conversation. This free talk is presented by MOCA (Museum of Contemporary Art) and hosted by the City of West Hollywood through its Arts and Cultural Affairs Commission.

Celebrating New Works: Making Michaela by Michaela Irv, Tuesday, December 16, 7:30 pm West Hollywood City Council Chambers 625 N. San Vicente Blvd. Join Celebration Theatre and the City of West Hollywood on the third Tuesday of each month for readings of new works celebrating the LGBTQ experience. Making Michaela follows Michael from childhood discovery and bullying to family life and transition. When he springs upon his wife and three children his need to transition it is very much a surprise which each family member handles in their own way. The play takes you through their experience as a family as well as Michaela's unique journey as she ventures out into the world to find herself. Admission is free, with donations gratefully accepted. Masha and the Bears is a very popular fairy tale in the Russian and Slavic cultures. In the United States, this story is known as Goldilocks and the Three Bears. This presentation of The New Year adventures of Masha and the Bears is about the most important values in life, family, and friendship. Winter Sounds: The Jennifer Leitham Trio Saturday, January 10, 2015, 4:00 pm West Hollywood City Council Chambers 625 N. San Vicente Blvd. Jennifer Leitham has been a professional musician for over 40 years, having begun her career as John Leitham. She is known for playing for some of the best ever, among them Mel Torme, Peggy Lee, George Shearing, Woody Herman, Benny Carter, Louis Bellson, Doc Severinsen, k.d. lang, and a horde of others. Her show will be a melange of original music and arrangements of the Great American Songbook, all delivered with a virtuosity, deep emotion, and humor.

Winter Sounds: Daniel Jimenez Afanador Saturday, January 24, 2015, 4:00 pm West Hollywood City Council Chambers 625 N. San Vicente Blvd. Daniel Jimenez Afanador, originally from Colombia, mixes the musical influences of his native country with American Alternative Rock to create songs in both Spanish and English that are both intimate and intense. He has performed at venues nationwide and in 2013 won first place at the San Diego County Fair Cantautor Latino contest for best singer/songwriter. In 2014 New Music Charts Magazine called Daniel a "remarkable singer and songwriter" and his song "All the Same" "beautifully executed and exceptionally arranged."
