Alumna Recital: Catherine Culp Hazan,
'86, Violin, and Mildred Ragis Roche, '79, Piano

Violinist Catherine Culp Hazan holds a bachelor's degree from Converse College and a master's from The Catholic University of America under Robert Gerle, as well as a performance certificate from the University of South Carolina under William Terwilliger. She was a full-time member of the Brazilian Symphony Orchestra for six years and premiered a number of solo and chamber works by contemporary Brazilian composers during her residence in Rio de Janeiro. Her solo career includes concerto performances with the Brevard Music Center Orchestra, the Spartanburg Symphony, and the Brazilian Symphony Orchestra, as well as a presentation for Pope John Paul II at the Vatican and a soloist appearance on the CD Baroque Christmas by the Rio Strings Chamber Ensemble.
Carlos Moseley Series: The Amernet String Quartet

The Amernet String Quartet has garnered worldwide praise and recognition as one of today's premier string quartets. Ensemble-in-Residence at Florida International University in Miami since 2004, the group was formed in 1991 while its founding members were students at the Juilliard School. The Amernet quickly rose to international attention after their first season, winning the gold medal at the Tokyo International Music Competition, before being named first prizewinners of the prestigious Banff International String Quartet Competition.
