Spotlight on Business

First Financial Bank in Clay County

First Financial Bank, in keeping with its pledge to be convenient, provides personal service to Clay County residents and businesses from three banking centers in Brazil and one in Clay City.

Kim Stearley manages our Brazil Main Office Banking Center at 7995 North State Road 59 and John Cesinger manages the Brazil Downtown Banking Center at 18 North Walnut St.

Michelle Murray manages our First Financial Brazil Eastside Banking Center, 2180 East National Ave., and Meghan Shidler manages our Clay City Banking Center, 502-504 Main St.

Your convenience - both in-person and through high-technology options - is a priority.

Many of our customers use online and mobile banking and also appreciate the ease of debit, credit and travel cards. Using your FirstPlus Check Card you can get cash back at the cash register and save yourself a trip to the bank or an ATM. That's one example of a time saving option for you.

Being respectful of the value of your time is important to us and so is one-on-one contact.

Local involvement and community service in Clay County through First Financial sponsorship of area activities and generous employees who volunteer effort and expertise to organizations and activities enable us to know our customers as neighbors.

Local decision-making, along with local service, is a cornerstone of our business commitment.

Tami Kolodziej oversees our Clay County mortgage lending and she works from our Brazil Downtown Banking Center. Our lending services range from mortgage and home equity loans and lines of credit to vehicle loans and personal loans.

Eric Nicholas oversees commercial lending - including working capital, expansion loans, farm loans, lines of credit and asset purchase - to Clay County businesses. He works from our Brazil Main Office Banking Center.

Business customers have special needs and our services range from e~deposits to simplified employee pension plans.

Beyond daily banking needs, we care about long-range service and your lifetime goals. Our Trust Services Department will help you plan your financial future. And, if you're 50 or better, First Gold Club, with monthly programs and many fun travel opportunities, may be of interest to you.

First Financial Bank, as the oldest national bank in Indiana and the fifth oldest in the United States, has been providing comprehensive banking services since 1834.

We've had a formal presence in Clay County for 30 years. On Aug. 11, 1984, Terre Haute First Corp., the forerunner of First Financial Corp., purchased People's State Bank of Clay County. However, residents of Clay County extended us the privilege of satisfying their banking needs long before we had brick and mortar facilities in their county.

First Financial Bank is a member of First Financial Corp., a financial services delivery system consisting of 73 banking centers in Illinois and Indiana, multiple insurance offices and more than 100 FirstPlus ATMs.

 Rotary Club of Brazil

The Rotary Club of Brazil has a storied history in Brazil dating back to 1937, when the club's charter was established. Rotary International provides direction to local clubs through the 4 Way Test-where we ask ourselves: is it the truth, is it fair to all concerned, will it build goodwill and better friendships, is it beneficial to all concerned. That test drives decisions made by our club. Each year our Rotary club has thrived and prospered with continuously strong membership. The annual 4th of July Celebration, featuring entertainment, the carnival, and the ever-famous local food booths, provides the club with the funds needed to support various projects around our community. Through our request for funds, we have assisted numerous other not-for-profit organizations with their projects. At Northview High School and the Community Theatre of Clay County projects funded through the Rotary District matching grants are highlighted. Individual Eagle Scout projects that impact our community have also been supported by our clubs funds. Each year scholarships are awarded to deserving high school seniors seeking to further their studies. In the past five years the club has also established and provides support to Interact clubs at both Northview and Clay City High Schools to help promote Rotary and community service to local high school students. Rotary Club of Brazil hosts weekly meetings at the Brazil Family Restaurant on Wednesdays at noon. More information about our club can be found at www.brazilrotary.org or by following us on Facebook or Twitter @BrazilRotary.
