Colorado Ocean Coalition

Did you ever think that you could be protecting oceans from a mile high? We are a non-profit project under the umbrella of The Ocean Foundation. Our goal is to create a constituency that protects oceans from a mile high. Denver Mayor's Office of Sustainability 

The Denver Mayor's Office of Sustainability seeks unpaid, part-time or full-time Interns for the fall of 2014.  Interns will experience a fast-paced, professional environment and will be given the opportunity to witness first-hand, the internal operations of the mayor's office of a major city, while assisting the Office of Sustainability with achieving the City's 2020 Sustainability Goals.  Application deadline is September 12th.  Internship Information

Ecological Center of Akumal
The Ecological Center of Akumal (CEA) is located in the Mexican Caribbean, on the eastern coast of the
Yucatan Peninsula.  Akumal is known for its marine beauty and biodiversity.  In Mayan, Akumal means "Place of the Turtles", and is a very important nesting and feeding site for turtles in the Caribbean.  Our mission is to help create a model for sustainable tourism development in the Mexican Caribbean through research, education and outreach.  The program is a great opportunity for students who are looking for field experience in the area of reef ecology and biodiversity conservation.  Internship Information

Masters in Environment, Development & Peace

 

One-year MA program at the UN-Mandated University for Peace of Costa Rica. 

 

The United Nations mandated University for Peace (UPEACE) was created in December 1980. The headquarters of the UPEACE system is in Costa Rica, the country which initiated the process for the establishment of the University. UPEACE activities include: teaching, research, distance learning, and outreach.

 

UPEACE offers Master's Degree programs in Peace and Conflict Studies for students from all parts of the world, students receive a high quality education in a unique atmosphere with a focus on multicultural perspectives, theory and practical applications.  Program Details and Application 



NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program Workshop

Current Seniors planning to attend Graduate School in Fall 2015:

The Graduate School will be holding a workshop for all eligible students (see eligibility criteria below) interested in applying for the Graduate Research Fellowship Program (GRFP) from  the National Science Foundation (NSF).  This NSF GRFP Workshop for students will be held on Friday, September 26, 2014 from 11:00-12:30 in Old Main Chapel.  Workshop speakers will include professors who have worked with their students to apply for these awards, people who have served as GRFP proposal reviewers at NSF, and recent GRFP winners. Note, the GRFP application deadlines start at the end of October and extend over the week depending on the discipline. 

 

The GRFP is one of the most prestigious awards a graduate student can receive.  It provides outstanding financial support and will allow you more flexibility in pursuing your research interests in graduate school.  More information about this opportunity can be found in the Program Solicitation or on the NSF Web Site .  Please review the information at these websites prior to attending this workshop. 

 

The NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program (GRFP) provides Fellowships to individuals selected early in their graduate careers based on their demonstrated potential for significant achievements in science and engineering. Three years of support is provided by the program for graduate study that leads to a research-based master's or doctoral degree in science or engineering.

 

Applicants are encouraged to visit the NSF web page at http://www.nsf.gov/ for more information and guidance about current and emerging themes for NSF.  The GRFP Program solicitation and eligibility information is available here.

Study Abroad in English Speaking Belize with ISIS-Belize

Students are strongly encouraged to consult with their advisors prior to signing up for any courses offered through institutions other than CU to ensure that they will receive academic credit upon completion.

 

Studying abroad couldn't be easier than English-speaking Belize, Central America.   The Institute for Sustainable International Studies, ISIS Belize, is known for great field courses which give students plenty of practical experience in areas which are hard to find in North America and Canada. 

 

Over the winter break or during the J Term, ISIS delivers two week intensive field courses in two sections:

Section A -December 26 - January 7

            Section B -January 7 - 18

Courses carrying 3 credit hours are transferable to home institutions with prior approval.

 

Students can take two courses for six hours of course work.

 

The application deadline for winter is October 15.  Seating is limited to provide the best experiences.
