Post Natal Class
Wednesdays, 11am-12pm
Salinas Studio

Bring yourself and your baby, your yoga mat if you like, a baby blanket, and a safe space for baby to rest (car seat perhaps?) while you exercise and stretch.  This class is intended for babies from birth to crawling.

In a "Plug Into Playtime" class, we will explore the developmental patterns that underpin your infant's growth from newborn to crawler, and play games to stimulate these developmental "lines of movement".  The class combines tummy time and interaction with Baby with exercise and stretching for you as we explore the lines of movement in our posture and through yoga and Pilates.

Your instructor, Donna Luder, has 18 years experience as a movement educator, Pilates and the Franklin Method as a certiļ¬ed instructor and earned an M.S. in Kinesiology (and she has 14 years of parenting experiencetoo!)                             www.donnaluder.com

Tips from Miss Health Nut
Ideas to Support Your
Detox for Spring

Happy March Healthnuts!! Spring starts in just 19 days and it's the season of renewal, which makes it the perfect time for a gentle detox that will help reset your body and mind and leave you feeling refreshed, renewed, and rejuvenated. Today is day 7 of my detox and let me tell you, I have never felt better! I have tons of energy, my skin is glowing, and I feel radiant, lighter, more productive, and fresh.

There is a common misconception that detoxing means fasting, which is simply not true. Many people will have outstanding results during a detox by eating clean meals, eliminating processed foods and saying goodbye to sugary sweets. It is important to focus on what you can eat during a detox, which is fresh, organic, nutrient dense foods. Detoxing is one of the best ways to maintain lasting health and wellness.

Overcoming The Fear of Death

by Dr. Dia Lynn,
 Certified Grof Breathwork Facilitator

I recently returned from two months helping my mother achieve a conscious, orderly and graceful transition. Unlike most of the residents in the extended care facility, I do not fear death.  This changes my approach to life.
This peace of mind is credited to my teacher Dr. Stanislav Grof and Holotropic Breathwork. In 1988 when I first signed up for a breathwork weekend on Maui, I was afraid of what dark secrets might be revealed in my psyche.

Happy Spring Yogis!
Spring is a wonderful time of light and rebirth; where we shift from the darker quietness of winter into warmth and more activity.  It is a joyful time to celebrate growth and newness and also an opportunity to welcome any challenges or discomfort that naturally arises with change.
For even within nature, there are pains that accompany the re-birthing of life - the shoot that struggles to push up through the thawing soil, the tight, closed bud beginning to open to receive light, the mother laboring to bring forth her child, and the caterpillar that metamorphoses from the chrysalis into the beautiful, radiant butterfly.
Each has their own journey to complete before beginning anew and without that journey, the growth would not occur.
Consider all the times we have come to our yoga mat with tightness in our muscles, creakiness in our joints, or stiffness of the mind.  And through consistent practice, gradually over time the tight muscles begin to soften, the joints become more supple and mobile, and the mind more expansive.
Our journey to transform ourselves from the caterpillar to the butterfly both on and off the mat, will inherently present us with moments of pain - where we are literally casting off the layers not true to ourselves.  But it is necessary in the process of evolution and we can have faith in this as it is true for all beings.
So meet all of your growing pains with joy.  Allow the newness of spring to support shedding of your old layers.
Become the beautiful butterfly - opening and expanding your wings to fly!
With love and light,
Laura McKinnon
