Westland Tree Recycling and Bonus Leaf Pick Up Dates: January 5 - 17, 2015
Westland, MI Each year, Christmas trees fill homes with light and joy throughout the month of December. But after the holidays, they don't have much use. How about giving your real Christmas tree a second life by recycling it into a beneficial resource at no charge to you?

Have yours chipped up by the City and recycled for use at the City of Westland Community Garden and other locations.

The Westland Building and Planning Department of Public Service is pleased to announce the details for the City of Westland Christmas Tree Recycling Program for the 2014-2015 holiday season.

As it has in the past, space will be provided for residents to drop off their Christmas tree at the City of Westland Recycling Center located at the rear of the Department of Public Services building located at 37137 Marquette.

The dates and times for drop-off for the 2014-2015 holiday season are Monday, January 5, 2015 through Saturday, January 17, 2015. The Trees may be dropped off during regular business operation hours Monday-Saturday 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. (closed on Sundays).  Trees must be free of lighting, tinsel and other decorations. Please remember, only real Christmas trees can be recycled.

During these dates, you can also put your tree out to the curb to have it picked up at no charge.  Trees put out to the curb will go to the landfill and will not be recycled.

This year, due to the warmer weather and lack of snow fall, many residents still have leaves that they have raked and bagged.  Between January 5 and January 17, residents can also put their leaves at the curb for pick up.

For more information, please contact the Department of Building and Planning at 734-467-3210.
