Presbyterian Women's Fall Dinner and a Very Special Book Sale

The Presbyterian Women's Fall Dinner will take place Tuesday, September 30, at 6:00 p.m. The dinner will kick-off our Circle Bible study for the year, but all women in the church are invited to attend. It's sure to be a great time filled with food and fellowship! In addition to sending checks to Vicki Lotz, checks to "UPC" with "PW Dinner" written in the memo line, may be placed in the offering plate this Sunday, September 21, and next Sunday, September 28.

The Presbyterian Women's Dinner will also feature a very special book sale. Peek into our past and prepare our tried and true recipes! Cleanup for construction created a wonderful discovery: The Chapel Hill Cook Book compiled by The Woman's Auxiliary of the Presbyterian Church in 1935! The nearly eighty-year-old book showcases appetizers through desserts, and includes advertisements for local businesses. A small order of this wonderful glimpse into what we cooked - still tempting today - and where we shopped is being republished. Sales will benefit the Pastor's Discretionary Fund. Books will initially be for sale for $10 on September 30 at the Presbyterian Women's Fall Dinner.

If you have questions about the book sale, please contact Sue Goloboy at (919) 818-5351 or Diane Rizzo at (919) 357-6128.

Faith Issues in Literature: Introduction of Anne Lamott's book Traveling Mercies: Some Thoughts on Faith. Her faith is not about easy answers, which is what endears her to believers and non-believers. Traveling Mercies tells in exuberant detail how Anne Lamott learned to shine the light of faith on the darkest part of ordinary life. Copies of next week's essay, "Why I Make Sam Go To Church," will be distributed. Location: Terrace Room.

Feasting on the Word: Expands our understanding of the lectionary scripture for each Sunday. This curriculum is coordinated with the children's ministry planning. Facilitator: Bob Dunham. Location: Fellowship Hall/Stephen Ministry Room.

Church Office: Temporary Location

The church office is temporarily located at 212 E. Rosemary Street. At this location, the regular office phone number will allow a caller to leave a voicemail for any staff member. Remember  email is the best way to reach administrative and program staff. Capital Campaign Construction Update

This Sunday, worship will take place in the Sanctuary.

Due to construction, the church offices and upper level classrooms are not accessible at this time.

As we strive to stay flexible and patient during construction, we're counting on our members to do so as well! Thank you!

If you'd like to see how the construction is coming along, please click here to see pictures on the UPC Facebook page. Note you don't need to have a Facebook account to view the photos.

Parking During Construction
During the week, we'll need to have parking spots set aside for the construction crew and their materials. All of the middle parking spaces in the Robertson Lane lot will be reserved Monday-Friday, 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. There will be a few visitor spots available next to the church building
in the afternoon, but those will be the only non-reserved parking spots during construction. If you need to come to the church during the day, please plan to park in the parking deck at 150 East Rosemary St. or call in advance to see if there are any other spots available.

We look forward to worshiping with you!
