FAA Associate Administrator to Present at Airports Going Green Conference

Eduardo Angeles, FAA Associate Administrator for Airports


 CHICAGO, October 29, 2014 - The Chicago Department of Aviation (CDA) is pleased to announce that the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Associate Administrator for Airports, Eduardo Angeles, will present at the Airports Going Green Conference on Monday, November 3, 2014.

 

Mr. Angeles oversees a $3.3 billion annual Federal airport grant program and passenger facility charge collections totaling $2 billion.  He also manages programs for national airport planning and development, including safety standards, design and engineering, certification, environmental processing, and financing.

 

On Monday afternoon of the Airports Going Green Conference, Mr. Angeles will present during the "FAA Guidance Updates: Sustainability/Energy/Waste; and Sustainability Management Plan Updates" session.  He will be joined by Barry Cooper, the FAA Great Lakes Regional Administrator.  Barry serves as the FAA's primary representative and liaison regarding aviation issues and activities within the Great Lakes Region.  Topics that will be discussed during the session include the FAA's recently published Guidance on Airport Recycling, Reuse, and Waste Reduction Plans ( www.faa.gov/airports/environmental/ ); the FAA's Voluntary Airport Low Emissions (VALE) Program, which distributed a total of $16.6 million in federal grants to 9 airports in 2014; and the FAA's airport sustainability planning initiative, initiated in 2010 to help airports incorporate sustainability into their planning and operations. Airport representatives that are preparing airport sustainability plans will discuss those documents during the "Sustainability Management Plan Updates" session immediately following Mr. Angeles's presentation.


 

Prior to joining the FAA, Eduardo served as Senior Assistant City Attorney for the Los Angeles City Attorney's Office.  The position included responsibility of General Counsel to Los Angeles World Airports, where he oversaw legal matters for Los Angeles International, Ontario International, Van Nuys, and Palmdale airports in southern California.  Before moving to Los Angeles, he served in the San Francisco City Attorney's Office assigned for 8 years to the San Francisco International Airport's Legal Division.

 

Born in the City of Pasig in the Philippines, Mr. Angeles moved to San Francisco at age 7. With his humble beginnings, he eventually went to school at the University of California Santa Barbara and studied law at the University of California Hastings School of Law.
