Hatha Yoga in ASL

Hatha Yoga combines postures (asanas) with conscious breathing and focus to develop strength, flexibility and mental clarity. Students can expect to develop body awareness and explore varied postures in a mixed-level environment.  All instruction will be given in ASL/ Sign Language, and the class is appropriate for beginners as well as advanced students.

  • Mondays (ongoing): 6:00 p.m. - 7:15 p.m.(Starts November 3rd) 
Beginning Yoga Flow
This class is great for beginners and seasoned practitioners. Beginning yoga Flow is an active, flow class to improve strength, focus, and flexibility, and relaxation at the end.. You will be given options in each pose so that you feel challenged, but at your level. This class introduces sun salutations to create natural flow from pose to pose, with the focus on alignment and breath. 
  • Tuesdays (ongoing): 6:30 p.m. - 7:45 p.m.
  • Thursdays (ongoing): 4:00 p.m. - 5:15 p.m.
Restorative Yoga

Unwind your body and relax your mind from the stresses of life. Restorative poses are an important part of any long-term yoga practice: they heal the effects of stress, recharge our energy reserves, and bring our nervous systems into a more balanced state. Restorative yoga props such as blankets, blocks, bolsters and straps are used to support the body which allows muscles to fully relax, the mind to quiet, and the spirit to experience peace and restoration. The class will end with a short Yoga Nidra. Yoga Nidra is built around facilitating deep relaxation and rest through guided meditation while laying in a reclined restorative position. This class will leave you feeling relaxed, refreshed and renewed.

Already attended this workshop? Repeat and build your yoga practice! 

This class is designed for beginners or anyone moving on from the 6 week Intro to yoga class. 
In the class you will continue to learn yoga poses that build strength, balance and flexibility. Along with techniques to reduce the tension of everyday stress. We will begin by moving the large postural muscles of the body and then hold some of the classic yoga postures. The second half of the class will be spent in restorative postures to reduce stress and increase relaxation.

Restorative Yoga & Yoga Nidra
Monday, November 17th

Our bodies have the ability to relax given the right circumstances. Restorative yoga uses supported poses held for a longer period of time to find rest and to restore for the "fight or flight" mode that we often find ourselves. Yoga Nidra means Yogic Sleep and refers to the conscious awareness of the Deep Sleep state. In Yoga Nidra you leave the waking state, go past the dreaming state and then go to deep sleep, yet remain awake. Restorative yoga and Yoga Nidra have an immediate effect on heart rate, blood pressure and is a proven therapy for chronic stress, insomnia, trauma from past physical injuries, and other all-too-common ailments. Emphasis on complete muscular relaxation and comfort are emphasized to achieve a quiet state of mind and body. This class is great for everyone interested in a peaceful practice, including those new to yoga or recovering from injury or illness.
