Join Us for a New History Club

There's a new History Club starting at the Bay County Public Library on November 3rd at 10 AM.

We will be reading both historical fiction and nonfiction, and at our first meeting, we'll vote on the books we want to read.

Here's how it will work: we'll read one book between meetings, and meetings will be held every other month for discussion. That gives us two months to read the book!

For more information, please call 850-522-2107. Please join us!

New Branch Manager in Liberty County

We've got a new Branch Manager in Liberty County!

Gerard Giordano (some people call him Gerry) was born in Jersey City, New Jersey. Early in life, he migrated to Arizona with his family on old Route 66, spending most of his life in the desert.

He was the first person in his family to earn a college degree, receiving his Master's in Library Science from the University of Arizona, Tucson.

Gerard has been a librarian for more than twenty years, and has a diverse background which includes adult/youth services, archives and preservation, programming, outreach, collection management, interlibrary loan, and leadership responsibilities.

He has also been a history and social studies teacher as well as a professional chef.

Gerard likes to write, and is a published author and poet. His most recent work includes two photo histories exploring reclamation projects in Central Arizona. He also enjoys fishing and tinkering with his restored 1969 Chevy pickup.

He is very excited about working in Liberty County. He and his wife, Lisa, look forward to their new life in the Florida Panhandle.

Dear Dewey,
If the Northwest Regional Library System does not own a book I want, can you try to get it from a library system somewhere else? -Ms. M.

Yessiree! If we do not own an item, we can try to get it for you via Interlibrary Loan (ILL). You can request an item through ILL by completing the form at: http://www.nwrls.com/interlibrary_loan_request.html or by asking the staff at your local library for help.

You can also request items to be purchased by filling out the "Suggest a Title" form at: http://www.nwrls.com/suggest_a_title.html. Complete the form with as much information as you can, including your name and library card number in one of the fields at the bottom. Our collection development librarians review all suggestions and the item will be placed on hold for you if it is purchased.
