OSU-N/COTC
John Gilbert Reese Center Room 125 F&G, $15/person

Local business leaders, social services, residents, and college students, staff and faculty will engage in interactive activities, including a world caf to become effective agents for change.

During the conference, attendees will gain a better understanding of how implicit bias can influence the many ways we engage with each other. We will use social media and videos to demonstrate the way decisions can be made based on these biases. By the end of the conference, attendees will share ideas, gain knowledge and develop awareness strategies to reduce and eliminate implicit bias for a more inclusive environment for all to live and work.

RSVP by April 3, here!

Thought for the Day

"While aristocracy-controlled religion was the opiate of the masses back then, corporate-controlled media is the opiate of the masses today."

- travel writer, Rick Steves, Seattle Times, 1/3/2015
"Welcome Back!" to the world of ice and snow... to all the folks from this year's Rancho Ebenezer Mission Brigade!  More electrical and painting work was done at and around the farm again this year.  Linda reported on Sunday that all the women in the sewing group now have access to machines.  Great news!

Join us in worship at UCG again this Sunday as we continue to consider our theme for Lent:  How are we being empowered and sustained in "the wilderness?"
And consider bringing something along for the Prayer Table (see below for details).

Also, there are a number of people ready to join the church, so if you're also interested in officially becoming a member, please send me a note at [email protected].  It'd be nice to receive everyone during the same worship service here in March!

Shalom,
Dwight

The Lenten Supper Series b
egins tonight!

6:00-7:30 PM

Join us for supper in the Chapel provided by "Green Chef," Kitty Leatham!  Suggested donation, $10/adult or $15/family (kids eat free).  We'll gather in the Chapel to eat together, then the kids will be able to go to the Annex for a supervised discussion and play/program in the gym.  Each night, adults will be watching a short segment from the PBS film,

...and having a discussion to follow.  A great way to "set Lent apart," to enjoy a healthy meal with friends, and to build deeper relationships.
 All are welcome!

This Sunday, March 1st

It's...Cuppa Pride Sunday!
All donations from Sunday's after-worship refreshments will go towards the outreach work of our local LGBTQ Open & Affirming Churches' "UCC Pride" Group.  Thanks to all who have provided these refreshments this year!

Bring Something for the Lenten Prayer Table

This season we're creating together a "Lenten Prayer Table!"  You're invited to bring something to place on the table which speaks to you of "wilderness."  Perhaps it's something that reminds you of a wilderness period in your own life, or something that speaks to you of the social wilderness, or of perseverance or growth through adversity or waiting or... use your imagination!  Small slips of paper will be available to share a short "explanatory note" if you like.  You can place these items before the service, or bring them up during the sharing of Joys & Concerns.
