Sassy 'lil SaaS

By: Alicia Hernandez, Think Technical Writer

There is just something so intriguing about the hosted service offerings that end in "...aaS"! Get your mind out of the gutter! I was talking about the convenience and peace of mind to have someone else responsible for the services that you offer or are in need of. Continuing our crusade with hosted services, this month we will chat about SaaS, or Software as a Service.

I think it's safe to say that I've heard it all when describing the stereotypical representation of the typical "tech" worker.  Often labeled a "Computer Nerd", they have their own entry in UrbanDictionary.com.  You know the type, that socially awkward guy sitting in the small closet; eyes glued to a screen with a box of half-eaten pizza discarded on the floor.  The view of the computer nerd in popular culture has certainly changed over the years but still, "IT" people have a bad rap.  Just last week a friend of mine was shocked to hear me call a Think team member an ENGINEER!  She didn't associate "a tech guy" with a respectable label like that.

Sure, there are definitely those tech industry characters out there who are highly intelligent but lack customer service skills and prefer gizmos to human interaction.  But you probably won't find them working at a good MSP (Managed Service Provider). Our engineers are highly qualified, have advanced education and certifications. They have years of professional experience and are skilled at project management and speaking to customers on their level.   They listen and provide valuable feedback.  They talk about solutions, not just technology. And, their talent doesn't stop with
your server.  They sing at music festivals, run marathons, race mountain bikes, cook up delicious treats and love to back country ski.

If you can't tell, I am very proud of our team!  They are well-rounded consultants and engineers with great personalities and they'd probably love to grab a beer with you.

"You don't really know someone till you've seen them surf the web with a slow internet connection."

Truer words have never been said, and I've got two simple tips to help rescue you from replacing your your desktop monitors ever other month.

Five Best Tech Blogs
If you want to know what our engineers are reading, here is a list of our top 5 tech blogs.

MashableMashable takes the worlds of TwitterFacebook, entertainment, news, and everything else techies are talking about and, well, mashes it up into a juicy concoction we crave.

TechCrunch TechCrunch isn't just the second-biggest tech blog, it's the No. 2 blog overall behind The Huffington Post.  It's full of techy gossip and it's easy to read.

How To Geek Even the best techs have to look stuff up. That's why we love this site, where you can find out how to remove hyperlinks from Microsoft Word Docs, set up NAS drives and review products.

GizmodoGizmodo's been a must-follow site for a long time, and happens to have some of the funnier commenters on the Internet.

GigaOmOm Malik's creation is now one of the largest blogs worldwide, and it's all due to focusing on what's new in the industry.
