CAWA Attorney Outlines Potential Sales Tax Liability for Members if They are Acting in a "Drop Shipper" Capacity
The Association has commissioned its attorneys to examine whether or not distributors acting in a "drop shipping" process for an internet retailing operation are subject to the payment of sales tax. They will draft a position paper on the issue and begin a dialogue with the Board of Equalization (BOE) to clarify the confusion over the collection of sales tax. CAWA will be alerting its members (only) on the dynamics, cautions and solutions of this type of sales tax collection. For more information immediately, contact Rodney Pierini, President & CEO at [email protected] or 800.332.2292, ext. 1.
CAWA, State and National Auto Care Industry to Meet with CARB
CAWA and other auto care industry associations will meet with CARB officials in September to discuss industry issues including telematics and the 14 year old California legislation giving independents access to emissions diagnostic and repair information. For more information on the meeting, please contact Rodney Pierini, President & CEO, at 800.332.2292 ext. 1 or [email protected].
Recognizing Members with 25+ Years of Support to CAWA
See the enclosure (here) which recognizes CAWA members who have supported the Association for more than twenty five years. CAWA thanks them for their confidence and support over the years.
CAWA in Coalition with Other Business Groups has Joined "Fed Up at the Pump"
The coalition announced that several hundred letters have already been sent to Governor Brown from Californians urging him to stop the state-mandated hidden gas tax set to start on January 1, 2015. The letters asked Governor Brown and the California Air Resources Board (CARB) to listen to the voices of consumers and business and to find another way to reduce carbon emissions. Starting next year, Californians will pay from 10 to 76 cents more per gallon of gas as a result of a gas tax that was created by the CARB as part of the "Fuels Under the Cap" portion of cap-and-trade regulations (AB 32). Obviously, these increase would directly affect your business operating costs, as well. For more information on the coalition and how you can assist, contact our Director of Government Affairs, Jennifer Zins at [email protected] or 916.871.0603.

CAWA Drops Federated Insurance Company for Liability Insurance and Saved Over 50% - For Comparable Coverage!
The point here is -- getting quotes on your business liability and vehicle insurance is well worth the time and effort. This type of insurance has the biggest premium spread in quotes that we have seen recently. For more information, contact our insurance partners: Glen Dailey in California ([email protected] or 916.286.0925); Todd Wilson in Nevada ([email protected] or 775.688.4400) and Bill Hanna in Arizona ([email protected] or 805.796.3033). There is nothing to lose except more unnecessary premium dollars and there is money to be saved here!
