We love what late spring has to offer: the annual One Story Debutantes reading, farmer's market cooking with Kate Payne, our June FEC selection by Smith Henderson, a spring Educators Night, and conversations with beloved locals like Julia Fierro, Miranda Beverly-Whittemore & George Prochnik and international names like Colum McCann and Khaled Hosseini.

Check out the descriptions below for details.  Note that Khaled Hosseini's launch at St. Joseph's college is a ticketed event (ticket includes the book and costs less than the cover price!) All other events are free and open to the public as usual.

One Story Magazine's annual Literary Debutante Ball honors One Story authors who have published their first books in the past year. Following the ball, this year's Debutantes (James Scott, Rachel Cantor, Celeste Ng, Amelia Kahaney, Ben Stroud, Molly Antopol and David James Poissant) visit Greenlight to read from their debut books.

The Hip Girl's Guide to the Kitchen is for those who dream of impressing their friends with a Pinterest-worthy dinner party, but lack the know-how. It's brimming with helpful tips, all with budget in mind, and reveals both the health and environmental benefits of cooking with fresh, whole ingredients. This evening, Kate will use produce from the Fort Greene Farmers Market for a demonstration of the best way to slice veggies, as well as creating some fermented pickles!

This bi-annual event for educators, including teachers, librarians, and administrators, is your chance to hear from publishers about new books, meet authors with books relevant to your classroom, and learn about Greenlight's partnership opportunities for your schools. Tonight's authors will lead a discussion on race issues for educators, following a title presentation from publisher sales reps with a focus on racial diversity in titles, characters, and topics.  Educators get a special  20% discount on all books, tonight only!

In conversation with Anand Giridharadas

Brooklyn Voices is proud to host Khaled Hosseini for his first-ever Brooklyn event, to launch the paperback edition of his newest novel And The Mountains Echoed. A multigenerational novel which follows its characters and their choices and loves around the globe, And The Mountains Echoed explores the many ways in which families love, wound, honor, betray, and sacrifice for one another. Hosseini discusses his work with New York Times columnist and author Anand Giridharadas.

Friday Singalong! (for babies and toddlers) 

2:30 PM Every Friday

Join us in the kids section for 40 minutes of great songs and stories for the littlest book lovers, led by Greenlight bookseller Jarrod and his trusty guitar.

  

Saturday Story Time (for kids ages 3 to 8)

11:00 AM Every Saturday

Saturday Story Time is geared toward kids ages 3 to 8 and their families. Authors and illustrators of picture books visit us on Saturdays to read from their new books. There are always great stories and sometimes activities and crafts!

Sunday Story Time (for babies and toddlers)

On Sundays, wonderful singer/songwriters take turns keeping babies and toddlers under 3 entertained with songs, stories, and interactive performance.

Summer Series: FAB Fridays!

One Friday each month from April to September, Greenlight partners with Lunitas cafe, and joins merchants and artists from throughout Fort Greene and Clinton Hill, for a FAB Friday celebration in the neighborhood's outdoor plazas! See below for the next scheduled FAB Friday.
