Welcome!
Pastor Stephen King & the Memorial Tabernacle Family invite you to become a part of a growing ministry that is "reaching to teach, teaching to change" one person and one block at a time.  Join us in our times of corporate prayer as our worship, our fasting and our commitment will continue throughout the year. You are invited to worship Sunday at 10:30 a.m. Find your place to GROW at MTC and continue to pray with us. Have a week filled with giving thanks, praise, expectation, thanksgiving, and celebration!
Notes from Sunday's Sermon
"THE WORD CAME" (Haggai 2:1-9):

We need another generation of Haggai's who will speak, "Thus says the Lord," a prophetic voice. What is the prophetic? Speaking truth to power. Speaking the divine mandate of the will of God for this moment. Speaking in the voice of justice and equality. Being willing to speak in the face of great opposition. It means being willing to take blows for the truth of God's eternal Word. Prophecy is all these things. It is believers telling the truth of God because God has said so-"Thus said the Lord." It is critiquing the injustice, the wrong-headedness, and the evil of the rulers in high places in our government.

We must remember that there is no such thing as a conservative prophet. Prophets don't come to conserve the social order; they come to change it. Ministers need to think as well as pray. If the church, and particularly the black church, is going to deal creatively with the relevant issues of our time, develop transformative paradigms, and implement effective strategies, we must develop theologies that will hold us accountable to the gospel of Jesus Christ. If we are not careful, we will become a church with a borrowed history and theology that is more useful in domesticating our people than in liberating them.

Got Bibles?
As children of the Lord, sometimes we are gifted with the best gift ever - the Holy Bible.  Many of us have 4 or 5 bibles at home being displayed on our bookshelves and collecting dust when they could be a blessing to someone does not know God and are seeking Him!

MTC Outreach Ministry are asking all members, friends and supporters to bring your additional bibles to church the next time you come.  No matter the size, the condition, the color or the version. Help us equip others with God's Word. If you do not have an additional bible, feel free to purchase a new one or make a financial donation. Thank you in advance!

Giving Is Good for Your Health

May I encourage you to give faithfully, regularly, obediently, and thankfully to the Lord in the coming year. There is a direct blessing that comes to you when you trust God. Investing in the work and ministry of the church is not a risk; it's a benefit - it's eternity. The Apostle Paul says, "For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal" (1 Cor. 4:17).  Thank you, again, for your support in 2014. Your support in the New Year will enable us to serve and minister beyond our walls. Together, we "glean in 2015!"  Please, give.

A Mission-Driven Church

Our Mission...
The Memorial Tabernacle Church has come together by the Holy Spirit for the specific purpose of preaching and teaching the word of God, (the Bible), and about Jesus Christ, God's son, and to proclaim the gospel of the Kingdom of God to the North Oakland Community and its environs; to bring healing to the brokenhearted and deliverance to the oppressed.

Our Foundation...
Fellowship "And let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds, not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more, as you see the day drawing near." (Hebrews 10:24-25)

Prayer "Do not fret or have any anxiety about anything, but in every circumstance and in everything, by prayer and petition (definite requests), with thanksgiving, continue to make your wants known to God."

(Philippians 4:6)

" Worship Let us therefore, receiving a kingdom that is firm and stable and cannot be shaken, offer to God pleasing service and acceptable worship, with modesty and pious care and godly fear and awe."

(Hebrews 12: 28
