Obama Authorizes 'Targeted' Airstrikes in Iraq

[tlm724] Obama said he had approved "targeted strikes against [ISIS] convoys should they approach the city."

adding that he had also authorized targeted airstrikes to help break ISIS' siege trapping about 40,000 Christians and members of a religious sect called the Yazidi on Mount Sinjar near Mosul. "We can act responsibly to prevent an act of genocide."

I just got off a chat with my contact in Irbil who says the Kurdistan area is under tremendous security pressures as I'm sure most of you know is happening. In the past 48 hours ISIL has come within 20-30 miles of Kurdistan.

The humanitarian crisis is overwhelming with refugees coming in and Kurdistan is desperately trying to shelter these mostly women, children and elderly.

Tlar Comment - Many have voiced their concern over the events revolving around the ISIS push into Kurdistan.

Kurdistan has been keeping a watchful eye on the ISIS but what the ISIS did was to attempt to break out of the boundary that they have been allowed to occupy as they are used as the reason to oust a dictatorship.

The ISIS, in going into Kurdistan, temporarily got out of the acceptable bottle that had been established in the northern Sunni areas. The US and the Pesmerga have reacted quickly and the ISIS will be put back into their bottle.

The US is supplying airpower to remove them from entrenched ISIS areas and the Peshmega is supplying the ground offensive. When the ISIS is pushed back into their bottle IMO the fighting will slow to a crawl.

It's another day dawning and we have much to be thankful for on this day.....God is Good. Overnight there were some good decisions made, there were some not so good decisions made, and there were some down right stupid things done....or maybe a better phrase is "not done"......meanwhile....some take power to the degree they believe they can do about anything on their own....sitting here shaking my head at world leaders and their failings.

Quite the jump from nothing can be done to militarily help Iraq, it must be done politically.....honestly glad to see that we are taking action....highly suspect that we already took action before this announcement.....

I come to you today to give you a recent update on the election process and how this relates towards the international rollout of the IQD for Iraq.

Note: If you have not read my previous news letter from Wednesday 8/6 (LINK), I encourage you to first read it. Today's news letter, as in all my news letters, is a continuation of the ongoing saga of the IQD RV process.

I need to reinforce everyone to hang tight and not sell you IQD. We will be exchanging at the banks with the new revalued rate shortly. I am going to now tell you why I believe this to be true.

Aggiedad77: Ok, so it is Friday and after reading through some of the news this morning......I just find that I can't contain my fingers from wanting to reach out.....quickly.......

Yesterday.....President of the Republic Massoum made a rather HUGE gesture towards the National Alliance......no one seemed to catch the significance of it.......he basically pronounced the National Alliance as the largest bloc in Parliament and gave them 6 hours at the time to bring forth a candidate.....

What did they do......NOTHING.....NOTHING.....NOTHING....then simply said.....aaaaaaahhhhhh......give us some more time.....UNHEARD of....

You have the golden egg in your lap....you have the capability of taking charge, yet instead you fumble the golden egg as though it were a steaming hot piece of @%&$......

Twilight News / failure of the leaders of the National Alliance to go out on behalf of a candidate for the formation of the next government, after meeting lasted for an hour advanced on Thursday-Friday.

It was agreed that the President Fuad Masum, with Iraqi parliament speaker Salim al-Jubouri, the need to give the National Alliance as the biggest bloc yesterday candidate for prime minister on Thursday evening.

The CBI must have a functioning government however; I have total complete peace concerning the RV.

HI ALL

A GROUP OF YAKS GATHERED QUIETLY DOWN BY THE STREAM. THEY WORE THEIR BEST HOLIDAY HAIR, AND THEIR HORNS WERE SHINY. THEY WERE CONFUSED. THEY HAD NO MAP TO GET TO CHINA.

A FRIENDLY CRITTER KNOWN TO THEM AS THE OBAAAMAN WAS WALKING BY, AND INVITED THEM ALONG AS HE WAS GOING THERE TO SIGN THE DEAL WITH THE CHINESE MAN AND SAVE HIS COUNTRY.

THEY FOLLOWED FOR A WHILE UNTIL THEY GOT TO THE BORDER. AT THE BORDER, THE YAKS WENT IN AND TOOK THE NEXT ROAD TO THE DESTINATION RESORT THEY WERE PROMISED.

THE FRIENDLY CRITTER WAS TURNED AWAY, AND THEY HEARD ONE OF THE CUSTOMS GUARDS A MUMBLING THAT THEY DO NOT ALLOW FAKE THIEVES INTO THE COUNTRY. THE YAKS LUMBERED HAPPILY ALONG.

Writings / announced Lawyers prominent Iraqi on Thursday received the International Criminal Court first cases documented evidence that condemns Prime Minister outgoing Nuri al-Maliki of war crimes committed with army commanders in different Iraqi cities, including Fallujah and Hawija and the province of Najaf during the past eight years of his rule the country.

The captain told the Iraqi Bar in Nineveh, Ahmed al-Hamdani, in a press statement that 'the International Criminal Court in The Hague, received on Wednesday, three lawsuits filed against the al-Maliki, and documented evidence and testimony and video recordings convict him of war crimes and crimes, human rights violations and the execution of prisoners and demonstrators in the cities of Fallujah and Hawija and Najaf. "
