Four Tips to Supercharge Your Research PartnershipsIACUC

2015 Regional IACUC Conference: Beyond the Mouse Cage: Human Health in Motion

In addition to updates, debates, and valuable networking, last week's IACUC Conference offered a twist when a lecturer asked us to consider researchers as customers. Customers?!

Remembering that our Institutional Animal Care and Use Committees(IACUCs) originally existed because of the work of research, and that we come together as a community with the mutual goal of humane animal care and the promotion of Human Health, attendees were given the following tips.

1. Focus on becoming trusted partners

2. Renew our communication with researchers

3. Rethink our current IACUC's role not just in research, but also in facilitating research policies and procedures that demand less red tape and assist our colleagues.

4. Revitalize research and get it moving!

Speak up for Research Gala
Museum of History and Industry June 19, 2015Gala

NWABR's mission is to promote the public's trust in biomedical research and its ethical conduct. The success of life science research depends on this trust, yet public sentiment is often at odds with the body of scientific knowledge. In addition to misconceptions about scientific research, organizations face an ever more difficult funding climate that creates challenges for long term planning and impedes promising research.

The Speak Up for Research Gala is based on the premise that in order to break down the barriers and divisions that impede the progress of scientific discovery we have to restore public trust and build bridges. We have to improve our own storytelling. We have to Speak Up for Research!

NWABR would love for you and your organization to Speak Up for Research. To learn about ways to Speak Up, contact Troy Chapman at membership@nwabr.org
