2014 BREAST CANCER AWARENESS RIDE OPEN FOR REGISTRATION!
Saturday, October 4th

Syracuse Bicycle is happy to announce that registration is now open for the 6th Annual Breast Cancer Awareness Ride on Saturday, October 4th at Green Lakes State Park in Fayetteville, NY.  This year, we are proudly partnering directly with the Carol M. Baldwin Breast Cancer Research Fund of Central New York.  Because of this partnership, proceeds from the ride will stay in Central New York to support medical research and "together we will find a cure."

There are three ride options to choose from:
* A 10-mile family-friendly ride on the Erie Canal
* A 25-mile road ride on a scenic loop north of Green Lakes State Park
* A 50-mile road ride that is a bit more challenging

All riders will receive a gift bag, a chance to win fabulous door prizes, and fully catered post-ride lunch by Angotti's Family Restaurant. On-course support provided by The Rabin Law Firm. Participating breast cancer survivors will receive a special gift from Mirbeau Inn & Spa of Skaneateles, NY.

NEW THIS YEAR: Any rider raising over $200 will receive a Breast Cancer Awareness Ride bike jersey; raise over $75 and you'll receive a pair of "Cancer Sucks" cycling socks.

Last year we had over 400 riders participate and our goal is to surpass that number this year.  Click here to register for any of the ride distances.

CYCLOCROSS DRILLS, SKILLS AND THRILLS CLINIC
September Critz Cross
Tuesday, September 9th & September 16th

We've partnered with Tim O'Shea's Pointway Performance to offer an Introduction to Cyclocross Clinic. If the idea of 'cross racing has even so much as crossed your mind, don't miss out on these two FREE clinics on Tuesday, September 9th and Tuesday, September 16th at Longbranch Park at 6pm. Don't have a cross bike and not sure if you're ready to buy one?  Bring a mountain bike! Don't have a mountain bike? We might be able to help you out. Let us know! Either way, the clinic will be a great way to prep for the Critz Farms Cross Race on Saturday, September 13th: learn...race...come back and learn some more.

SB Promise: Besides the skills gathered, we can almost guarantee that cyclocross will soon become your favorite cycling discipline and that a cyclocross bike will also become the favored steed in your stable.  From the efforts themselves to the camaraderie and atmosphere of the events, the sport has fun, fun, fun written all over it from top to bottom.  There isn't a more versatile bike available...it goes where a mountain bike goes, accepts wider tires and fenders for off-season training and commuting, and can become a road bike with a swap of tire.  The list goes on.  If you can only have one bike - this is it.

Interested in attending one or both sessions? Please send an email to rsvp@syracusebicycle.com with "cross" in the subject line.
TIME FOR HILL BENDING
Sunday, September 14th

Looking for a challenging fall race? The 39-mile Cazenovia Hillbender is well known as a as true test for expert riders, yet still within reach for well-conditioned novices who might be making their first foray into road racing.  The course tours the outlying areas of Cazenovia, taking advantage of its scenic splendors and geographic diversity.

Not sure you're up for a quad beating? The Hillbender Lite is 19-mile non-competitive romp through the back roads and country lanes of Madison County. Experienced and beginner cyclists alike will enjoy the incredible autumn scenery and splendor of the Chittenango Falls area.  There's also a new 8-mile family option this year!

The Youth Bike-a-thon portion of the race provides an entertaining challenge for the younger Hillbenders out there, ages 12 and under.  Kids can raise money for the Two Smiles, One Hope Foundation with each lap they complete. If you've been looking for a cycling activity for your kids, this is the perfect opportunity to bring the entire family out on a beautiful fall weekend to support a good cause! Registration and pledge forms for the bike-a-thon are availablehere

Two Smiles One Hope, Inc. is a Syracuse based not-for-profit foundation charged with raising research funding for treatment alternatives and increasing community awareness of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. It was founded in 2007 by Matt and Alison Willis after their twin sons, Jack and Nolan, were diagnosed with the disease.

RIDE FOR MISSING CHILDREN - MOST UNIQUE CENTURY RIDE AROUND!
Syracuse Ride for Missing Children
Friday, September 26, 2014

WHAT IS THE SYRACUSE RIDE FOR MISSING CHILDREN?
Sponsored by the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children/New York (NCMEC/NY), the Syracuse Ride for Missing Children is a 100-mile ride made by bicycle riders or "Friends of Missing Children" that raises funds to support prevention education programs and to remember all missing children. More than 2,000 children are reported missing in the United States each day, some in our own community.

AN ESCORTED, TEAM PACED RIDE
This is not a race..... We ride together as a Team - averaging 15-18 mph on the flat portion of the course escorted by members of the New York State Police, local police and sheriff's departments. This means traffic is halted for the riders!

Our destinations along the route are designated schools where our arrival is the highlight of a safety education program that has been attended by the children of each school. Imagine the impression the riders make on the school children as they see over 100 bicycle riders, riding 2x2 escorted by several police cars with lights flashing and sirens blaring! The visits are electrifying as hundreds of children and adults cheer the riders as they enter the school grounds. Register here
