Thank you to our St. George's family for eating many pancakes made by the youth for Mardi Gras, Feb. 15 th We are able to give Casa Marianella a check for $199 to continue their good work, all due to your generosity.  We hope you enjoyed letting the good times roll with us!

Rector's Corner
Dear St. George's Family,

I pray that you are having a transformative experience of Lent so far.  We are well in the midst of this important season as we prayerfully consider our continual relationship with God through Christ.  If you have not done so already, I encourage everyone to adopt a Lenten discipline in some form or fashion, especially though prayer, fast, and almsgiving.

The season of Lent moves us in closer relationship with God as we approach the beautiful morning of Easter at Christ's resurrection.  This year Easter falls on Sunday, April 5th, and leading up to it we will celebrate Holy Week together.  Please see the Holy Week Service Schedule in this publication and mark the dates on your own personal calendars for these special offerings.  One change from previous years will be the move of our Stations of the Cross service to directly before the Good Friday service.  Stations will be held at 11:30 on Friday, April 3rd followed by the Good Friday service at 12:00 pm.

I pray that you and your family have a meaningful and prayerful season of Lent this year. And, I pray, you are continually blessed by God's presence in your lives.

Peace,
The Rev. Kevin LJ Schubert
Grace Lenten Series
Wednesdays 6:30- 8:00 pm
March 4, 11, & 25
March 4th & 25th @ St. George's (Kleberg Hall); and March 11th @ St. James Episcopal (1941 Webberville Rd)

The Grace lecture series is held Wednesday evenings during Lent and consists of dinner and conversation .  This year we will join with St. James Episcopal Church as we compare Christian views of Charity, Hospitality, Mysticism & Sacrifice with those of our Muslim brothers & sisters from the Dialogue Institute of the Southwest - Austin.  After a shared meal, speakers from both faiths will address the evening's appointed topic, and questions and a discussion will follow.  We will alternate hosting the event and being hosted by the St. James community.  Participating in the Lenten Grace Series is a wonderful way to observe a Holy Lent!  Please bring a dish to share.

Church Office Transition
This year we are looking forward to the  transition of the church office from its current location to the historic home on site, called the Wright House.   If you  would like to be involved with the task force that will oversee this transition, please contact John Rickard, John@p3consulting.us

Also, the Wright House Wellness Center put together a video announcement of their move as they will be vacating the Wright House space during the month of April .  They will be consolidating their office spaces temporarily  at  8101 Cameron Rd., Suite. 105  Austin, TX, 78754 and will  announce their new home in March 2015.

keep you away. There's always plenty to go around!

The first 30 minutes of the serviceconsists of prayers, songs, Gospel reading, & sermon, with communion shared alongside a pot-luck meal.  The service is followed by a brief seminar led by the St. George's Head of School, Jerri Thompson.  Please bring a dish to share for the potluck meal.

Memorial Garden Offering on March 29th

The St. George's Memorial Garden occupies a special place on our grounds, just outside the south door of the church. Newcomers notice it right away if they enter the church building from that door, and it is very visible to passers-by along the frontage road of I-35.  It also occupies a special place in the soul of our congregation. For nearly 40 years, the ashes of beloved parishioners, former parishioners, relatives, and friends of St. George's have been scattered in the garden after their deaths. Many of us have stood in the garden -- with the rain or the wind or the sun and the whizzing sound of cars -- in witness to this solemn act.

As with any garden, our Memorial Garden needs care and upkeep. Often the garden has been tended by dedicated parishioners, more recently by professional landscapers. The Vestry has budgeted $600 this year to help out with this expense, but that is not enough to cover a monthly cost of $150 or more. The rest of the cost is borne by individual parishioners.

To give others a chance to help, the Vestry has designated that the loose offering on the fifth Sunday of March (March 29, Palm Sunday) be given to the Memorial Garden Fund for its upkeep. "Loose offering" means the cash and coins you place in the alms basin that day. You may also write a check to St. George's and designate "Memorial Garden" on the memo line.  Please be generous with your gifts and help us be good stewards of this beautiful and holy ground.

If you have any questions about the Memorial Garden or want to find out how you might be able to use your time or talents in the garden, please contact Gayle Wall at gwall9407@austin.rr.com

Women's Retreat Weekend
April 24-26
Calling all ladies at St. George's to a relaxing, rejuvenating weekend at  Well Spring Center at Wessendorf Ranch in Blanco, Texas, Friday to Sunday, April 24-26, 2015. The Women's Book Club is sponsoring this retreat for female members of the church so that we may build relationships and enrich our overall community. I hope you will consider joining us.

Please take this opportunity to unwind, rejuvenate and relax. The retreat is very low key and loosely organized.  We have opportunity for each of us to bring a gift of expression (if you desire), like yoga, painting, a game or whatever you would like to share.

If you have attended one of the annual church retreats, you are familiar with the magical location of the Wessendorf Ranch. If you haven't, you are in for a treat since this location offers a tranquil atmosphere with incredible views of the surrounding hill country, comfortable accommodations, a lovely chapel on the highest point and a 15 -20 foot Umlauf sculpture of Jesus walking-gorgeous and inspiring!

The cost for the entire weekend is $50.00. This will cover all meals and the facility fees. Please call me with questions, or let me know you want to come. I need to provide the Ranch with our final numbers sometime toward the end of March.

Also, watch for an invitation to join the planning meeting for this enjoyable weekend.
