Notes from your Missive Maven:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Thank you for a wonderful opening weekend! And thank you for being patient with our new parking situation.
It's going to rain again this weekend, so please take the proper precautions.
And if you're sick and your presence is not *absolutely* required at the fair, please stay home. Do let your director or booth owner know as soon as possible. And don't share drinking vessels!
And... Happy Thanksgiving!
Cat
Important: Backstage Curtain Etiquette
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Please remember to slow down, be careful and follow the arrows on the curtains when going through the backstage curtains.

Please do not use the backstage entrance/exit next to the Father Christmas stage in the children's area. That hallway is often crammed full of kids waiting to go onstage and it's also a huge distraction for audience members watching shows on the stage.

Venue Hours During the Week

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
(from Kevin Patterson)
After the second weekend the venue will be open for deliveries and spruce-ups on Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 10 AM until 6PM. If you need access other than the posted hours, call our site security and make the request directly. The name and number of our on-site security person is: Mark Adlard, 707-776-7207.
The venue will be closed tomorrow (Thanksgiving)
Notes from Costumes
(from Liz Martin)
First and foremost, thank you for working with our Fastrack team! Things went really smoothly. Fastrack works! To John, Del, Dale, and Val, thank you for getting up early on the weekend to help check people in.
Approvals & Hours
This week we will continue to be open at 8 am to do approvals. We will be taking Fastrack photos from 8-10am and then again in the afternoon from 2:30-4 pm.
We will be doing Fastrack photos this weekend and next, 12/6&7.
The costume shop hours will be 8-7:30 for the rest of the run.
Classes
Alexandria will be doing ongoing sewing circle style classes through out the run of fair. This weekend's class will focus on day caps. Bring muslin pieces, lace, doilies, & bits of trim to create your own bit of Victorian fluff. Times will be posted outside costumes.
Privy Etiquette
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Ahem... please be courteous to those who will be using the privies after you and don't make and/or leave a mess. If supplies run out, just let them know at the Ops trailer or tell someone with a radio.

Thank you.

A request from the Miss Fezziwigs and their package laden suitors

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
(from Mr. Fezziwig)
A request from the Miss Fezziwigs and their package laden suitors.
We love that you want you to gig with us. We *want* you to gig with us. It's lots of fun to knock over the parcels! We squeal and complain! We burden the gentlemen! Christmas fun for everyone!
However...
We ask for you to please be aware of your surroundings. We've had a number of run ins when folks have hit our gentlemen, or knocked them bodily into customers, or tried to cause a scene near a stage/scene already going on, which doesn't quite work.
The Fezziwig daughters are the ones leading the gig. We're looking for wide open, safe, quiet spaces to spice up. If you would like to cause all sorts of loud package strewing mayhem, please check in with us first. If we're in a good spot to gig, we will make it very clear to you. If not, please let us pass by without strewing our packages willy nilly, and we hope that you'll be able to catch up with us next time!
This has been a plea for orderly chaos.
Respectfully yours,
The Fezziwig Family (and suitors)
The Green Man thanks you all and makes a small request...
(from Kathleen Bartholomew)
Thank you, all you fine performers and craftspeople who came to visit us on Opening Weekend. Many of our guests were welcomed in, and commented to me that we had the homiest, most comfortable, and friendliest place in London - thank you all for making our patrons feel at home, and giving them a chance to talk, play and sing with us.
However: while we all want to save good memories of what happens at Fair,
PLEASE DO NOT USE YOUR CAMERAS IN THE GREEN MAN.
I realize that the patrons do so, and that at times it looks like there's a lightning storm going on in the Parlour from all of the flashes. But please - leave the modern contrivances to our patrons. The sight of a half dozen properly dressed Victorians taking furtive photographs with cell phones is just not conducive to Christmas cheer.
Thank you.
Kathleen Bartholomew
Postcards Backstage - No Admittance, Please
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

(from Diana Young)

A gentle reminder - The cast of Postcards is large and the area backstage at the V&A is not. Unless you are a member of the cast your presence is actively and vehemently discouraged. In other words, NO VISITORS. None. Nada. Ix-nay! By order of the Grumpy Old Directrix.

Thanks,

Diana

R.E.S.C.U. is back!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
R.E.S.C.U (Renaissance Entertainers Services Crafters United) has returned to DICKENS for the 2nd year in a row and is, as Mr. Patterson has stated, the start of a tradition!  The R.E.S.C.U. Foundation promotes and maintains the health and medical well-being of the participants of fairs, historical performances and other artistic events through financial assistance, advocacy, education, and preventative programs.
This year's R.E.S.C.U. will run similar to last year's.  Kat, Elizabeth and their crew will be coming around talking with everyone, explaining RESCU, and asking for your support through donations & buying tickets for the drawing.  ...Please look for the individuals wearing the RESCU lapel pin.  Items/certificates donated will be displayed in the Green Room on the 4th weekend Saturday, with the drawings taking place final weekend.  If you simply wish to make a cash donation there will also be a box placed in the green room each weekend for your convenience.
If you are in need of a R.E.S.C.U. medical form or wish to discuss making a donation please see Elizabeth at The 3 Cripples Pub or catch Kat as she roams around (a good place would be the Oudeman Stained Glass Booth) or go to
http://www.RESCUfoundation.org  to download.
Thank you for all of your support!!!
Special Chris Caswell Legacy CD
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

(from Danese Cooper)

Some of you may remember that in 2011 there was an after-hours benefit concert for long-time Faire family musician and harp booth owner, Chris Caswell. Unfortunately that turned out to be Chris' last concert.

This Holiday season a new Caswell Legacy CD set mastered by Danny Carnahan is available, with proceeds going to set up an educational non-profit to host the rare archive of instructional materials Chris collected or created during his lifetime.

Dickens Fair  participants can order them online up until Dec 15th at  http://tinyurl.com/oheswjx for shipping anywhere in the US by Christmas, or for pickup at the Bruno Academie of Music at Fair. The CDs will also be on sale to the public through consignment at the Dickens Faire Gift shop.
