Welcome to the first publication of our monthly newsletter. Our goal is to provide you with very useful material regarding health and related topics. The original creators of this document - Amy, Debbie and Mary - have worked very hard to make this journal possible, and all of us at Synergystix will be contributing to the content of the publication on a regular basis. We hope that you enjoy reading our submissions and that you are able to use the information in your everyday lives.

With warm regards,

Night's Sleep

The changing of seasons has no doubt changed your routines. Now is a good time to re-establish the importance you are giving to sleeping habits! As life makes its demands, rest is often the area that gets trimmed back. Do you lay awake in bed making to-do lists and anticipating the next series of stresses you may encounter, while missing out on crucial rest?  This could have more of an impact on your health than expected.

Being sleep-deprived can have some serious consequences including:

Weight gain
Depression
Impaired cognition and memory
Increase risk for heart disease...

Does This Look Familiar?
Scott J Moloney, RMT

The images above are just a few of the headache patterns that arise from Trigger Points. Trigger Points are irritable segments of muscle that can refer pain to another part of the body; sometimes surprisingly far removed from the muscle! They are a common source of headaches and neck pain and can arise either from a trauma or from a repetitive strain, poor posture being one of the most common. The good news is that a properly designed and executed Massage Therapy treatment plan can drastically reduce or often eliminate headaches caused by Trigger Points. At Synergystix we will work with you to deal with your headaches and to help get at the root causes so you do not have to suffer from this common affliction.

Arthritic joint pain is a common complaint in my practice. Joint pain which increases as the weather changes provides diagnostic information in Traditional Chinese Medicine, and will help dictate what treatments are most effective, what activities to avoid, and what foods will make your condition worse. Continue reading...
