Calling all families
The Arc is holding its last family meeting for the fall.

If you haven't already attended, please mark you calendars for Thursday, October 16th, at noon.

We have already held two meetings so far, and they have been great. Our families have learned about some of the changes that are taking place here at The Arc, and we are learning more about what our families want.

Our families have given us great ideas for seminars and ideas to incorporate into our day program. For example, we love the idea of take your parent to work day. If you are a parent or sibling of someone served at The Arc, please come share your ideas with us and your talents. The Arc is only as strong as its families.

Thank you employers!
October is national disability employment awareness month.

Employment is the cornerstone of inclusion. The Arc is pleased that 70 local businesses in Carroll County have partnered with us to offer 80 people with disabilities paying jobs in our community. Those 70 local businesses are making a huge difference in people's lives!

It is a small gesture, but we will be delivering thank you notes and Roy Rogers' brownies to our employers. Roy Rogers, one of our employer partners, has very graciously donated 100 of 300 brownies. Roy Rogers is one of our best partners, employing several individuals from The Arc.

If you would like to become an employer partner, contact Starr Jolbitado at [email protected]

The Advocacy Club is on the move!

Members of The Arc Carroll County's self advocacy club are headed to Baltimore on October 9th for the 2014 Governor's Forum.

The candidates in the governor's race will address issues that affect the developmental disabilities community. Our folks will be able to ask questions at the upcoming forum.

We are really looking forward to having our voices heard on issues that directly affect us.

Matt and his family enjoyed the event, which benefited The Arc. We would like to congratulate Matt and thank Detour Winery for hosting such a great show!
