ROCKHILL TROLLEY MUSEUM FALL SPECTACULAR October 11-12, 2014 PA Route 994 just off Route 522 www.rockhilltrolley.org (814) 447-9576 One of the Rockhill Trolley Museum's biggest events of the year is extra spectacular this year with WPSU and Daniel Tiger making a special appearance on October 11 along with the historic trolleys running excursions for visitors throughout the event. The Raystown Lake Region's wide open spaces and gentle breezes have been known to refresh souls and many "ahhs" have been heard when travelers first glimpse our scenery in the fall. There are many opportunities for great leaf peeping typically during mid-September onward on our trails, trolley and tour boat excursions in Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania.
FULL EVENT LIST AT THIS LINK: http://bit.ly/HauntingdonOct2014
Rockhill Trolley Museum has many popular events in the fall that take you on an old-fashioned trolley ride through the fall foliage popping on each side of the rails. The fall spectacular and pumpkin patch trolley are two sure picks for leaf peeping, stepping back through time and riding a restored trolley just like they did in the olden days.
Both marinas at Raystown Lake offer tour boat excursions for viewing fall foliage, the chance to see our resident wildlife and relax as the "Princess" or "Proud Mary" glides past unspoiled shores. Meal cruises are available for early morning or evening leaf peeping too.
Be sure to bring your mountain bikes and helmet cams for the views on the Allegrippis Trail System at Raystown Lake. The overlook at the intersection of Ridge, Berry Patch and Rays Revenge trails is worth the ride to see the view. On the whole 33 mile trail system -- that spot would be my pick for one of the best views in Pennsylvania and a great place to view the fall foliage while overlooking Moonbeam Island and Raystown Lake.
The Allegrippis Trails are ranked as some of the top single track mountain bike trails in North America by Mens Journal magazine. More than 30 miles of single track trails link up for endless possibilities of riding in The Alleghenies through the forests and shoreline of Raystown Lake on the Allegrippis Trails. The trails are designated as "multi-use" for mountain biking, hiking, snowshoeing...so bring your camera and lace up your boots to enjoy some of the best trails available in North America.
The Raystown Lake Region is your best kind of get-out-of-doorsy place. Outdoor recreation, culture, history, scenery and education are some of the top draws for guests in Huntingdon County, PA; in the Alleghenies of Pennsylvania. Only 2% of the 118 mile shoreline of Raystown Lake is developed; so, flip that statistic around and know that 98% of the shoreline is UNDEVELOPED and pristine wilderness scenery is here and waiting for you.
And remember the Raystown Lake Region for the springtime display too! Our Eastern Redbuds, honeysuckle and dogwood trees are a beautiful sight to behold in mid- to late- April!
