ENVISION...recognizing sustainable infrastructure

Wilmot Inc. offers new services!

We are excited to add the Envision Sustainable Infrastructure Rating System and qualification process to our list of services. Envision is an evaluation tool created by the Harvard University Graduate School of Design, in collaboration with the Institute for Sustainable Infrastructure. The rating system provides a framework for evaluating roads, bridges, pipelines, water treatment systems, and other civil infrastructure projects for community, environmental, and economic impacts and benefits.

The Envision Rating System includes a scorecard, but goes beyond the points systems required by LEED, Green Globes and others, to help answer the more fundamental question, "Are we doing the right project?" as well as, "Are we doing the project right?" Points are awarded in 5 categories including:

  • Quality of life
  • Leadership
  • Resource allocation
  • The natural world, and
  • Climate and risk

At Wilmot, we feel the process framework embodied in Envision will help our clients build better projects and make better infrastructure decisions.

Wilmot has an "Envision Sustainability Professional" available to lead your Envision efforts. Contact us today to find out more.

Welcome, David Adams!

WILMOT IS PLEASED TO ANNOUNCE...

David brings a sustainable approach to engineering.  He understands that the best solutions to a problem take into account not only financial and physical limitations, but also social concerns and community goals.

This month we want to introduce you to our new employee, David Adams. We know you will get to know him as our quietly competent Engineer-in-Training, with expertise in municipal water/wastewater systems. Behind the quiet engineer, there is an unusual and dynamic character, and we want to take a moment to introduce the "man behind the curtain."

David has a wealth of practical in the trenches experience. He spent his first year after college with the city of Canton, Ohio; then joined the Peace Corps and worked in rural Jamaica for the next two years. In addition to engineering practice, he polished his planning and mediation skills bringing water and sewer infrastructure to remote villages, often negotiating with village elders and government agencies that were at odds with each other. Along the way, the former University of Cincinnati varsity runner found time to start a track and field team for local Jamaican youth.

David is a singer/songwriter and a member of the Nashville Songwriters Association International. The monthly music nights he founded for Christian musicians has been adopted as a program by the Diocese of Nashville. These days, David still hopes to compete in local running events, as long as he can work his training around his new baby's schedule. He and his wife Emily welcomed Jude Adams to the family on June 27th.

We hope you will enjoy working with David as much as we do. Please join us in welcoming him to the Wilmot Inc. team.
