"Over 5,000 small business concerns netted $250K or more in FY14 Simplified Acquisitions for a total of $7B. At the same time, large companies picked up $5B in competitive Simplified buys for goods and services small business provide.
I want  to see small federal contractors do what it takes to 'move' that $5B block of cheese!"

Celebrating Ten Years of Supporting Small Business Growth and Agency Missions!

From the Chief Visionary

If your company does or is trying to do business with one or more federal or defense agencies and are concerned about the rising costs of doing business and the decline in government contract dollars, I have the following comment and question for you:

On-Ramp 5271

On Tuesday, December 9th in Columbia, MD we will host the first of our 'simplified pipeline builder' workshops called Opportunity On-Ramp: Simplified Acquisitions™ which is where we focus on the pot of government dollars that has steadily increased the last five fiscal years an average of $800 million dollars each year since FY2010.

Can the same be said about spending for the Federal Supply Schedules? What about government contracting overall?

faucet drop money The Opportunity On-Ramp workshop runs from Noon to 5pm that day and if you've previously participated in our Finding and Winning Simplified Acquisitions to Grow Your Business seminar which is a three hour deep-dive into all things Simplified Acquisition, you can sign up for just the workshop. If you haven't experienced this seminar, no worries as we'll host it the same morning from 8am to 11am which means you can purchase a full day ticket that will include both sessions, breakfast and lunch. Either way, those attending this intimate workshop (only ten slots available for the Noon to 5pm session) will leave with a viable pipeline of prospects and opportunities!

Have questions? Feel free to give Guy or Maggie a call at 410-381-7378 x2. In the meantime, if you want to move into the fast lane of government contracting opportunities, take the Opportunity On-Ramp! Hope to see you there!

Husband. Father. Soldier. Friend. Aw Heck, He's Just a Good Guy!
He's called my 'brother from another mother' for a reason and this Wednesday will be the last time my good brother Richard guy and richard Dean will be at Business Over Breakfast in Tysons. Why? Because he and his beautiful wife Doerte are retiring to North Carolina in just a few short weeks. Richard is a fixture in government contracting and thankfully in The American Small Business Coalition, too! For so many years he's been there for Maggie, me and many of our members and partners through good times and bad. He has always stayed the course as a supporter and friend.

If you'll be in the area this Wednesday and want to come give Richard your well first sergeantwishes, be sure to pre-register so we know you're coming and can make room.

For those that don't know, this is actually Richard's second retirement. The first one  was in 1990 when he left the ranks of the US Army as a First Sergeant.

Like many, we're going to miss Richard and his riveting elevator pitch (Courtesy of his participation in Toastmaster's and reaching out to The Chief Storyteller) but most of all we'll miss his kindness as a person and professional. If Richard helped you or your company in some way over the years (there are many of you!), come out on Wednesday and have breakfast with him!

Do You Like Apples? How Do You Like Them Apples?

I'm referring to 'green' apples and not the 'Granny Smith' variety either! I'm talking low-hanging fruit dollars and cents, especially when those dollars and cents are headed to the coffers of small federal contractors.

In a previous article I mention the fact that $5 billion in Simplified Acquisition dollars are fruitcompetitively awarded to large companies each fiscal year for much of the same goods and services small businesses provide. Why? There are multiple reasons. Here are a few:
  1. small federal contractors are not making themselves known to small purchase buyers (that's the visible and viable thing I frequently talk about);
  2. in some cases small vendors don't understand the inherent benefits spelled out in the FAR for both Government and Industry; and in other instances,
  3. they simply aren't aware sixty agencies purchase goods and services referencing more than 1100 NAICS Codes and 2400 Product and Service Codes each fiscal year.
We can fix that.

If increasing your awareness and understanding of mostly competitive purchases
that represented $19 billion in obligations during FY2014 would help your small business to achieve it's growth goals, take a moment to learn about A|C|E™: SAP Professional Development. Details are available at www.SimplifiedAcquisitions.us.
